The Block 2018 Gatwick: Re-do rooms

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The contestants re-did some of their rooms last night on The Block. What did you think? I am sad Bianca and Carla’s got rid of that wall. I liked it!!

Check out their efforts below and tell me what you think…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Kerrie and Spence

Kerrie and Spence had the easiest job re-styling their re-do room this week. All they did in their living/dining was swap in a brightly-coloured artwork, add some bull and horse statues and pop some plants in – and voila! Their space had gone from ‘nineties boardroom’, to quirky St Kilda apartment – stuffed birdcage light and all! Shaynna particularly loved their choice of artwork, saying it “goes with the artwork in the hallway.” She also felt it all felt more homely, and a lot more welcoming – she even appreciated their birdcage light![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Bianca and Carla

In the end, the girls ended up scrapping their bungled feature wall, swapping it out for a plain plastered wall in an attempt to ‘feminise’ the space. They added a nude artwork, a king size bed and new linen to “make it seem more feminine”, and moved their sconces to either side of the bed.Shaynna loved this, and also loved that they’d upsized with a more appropriate sized bed. “The thing is, the room doesn’t feel smaller because of it,” she said. “I think they have done a really good job on fixing the problems – it’s a big improvement.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Jess and Norm

The Queenslanders up in the penthouse had the toughest job of all this week – moving that enormous fireplace and swapping out their “mean-sized table” for something more space appropriate. In the end, they did both these things, and also added a new contemporary couch and a statement light above the table to the space. Shaynna was impressed, saying, “Now that’s what I want to see!”
“This is magnificent,” she added, before turning her attentions to the upsized table, complete with ten plush chairs. “Before it felt tiny – now it feels like a penthouse. This is brilliant.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Courtney and Hans

The indecisive couple from WA ended up deciding to put a plush green lounge, bone inlay table and two abstract artworks in their re-do main bedroom. And while SHaynna still thought their entrance hallways lacked impact, she did love the couch and “gorgeous” table. But overall she thought the couple had missed their chance to recreate the space. Better luck next time, guys. We still think it’s gorgeous.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Hayden and Sara

Sara and Hayden didn’t think they had much to do to their re-do room. But in the end they ended up totally overhauling the side tables, lamps and bedhead. They also re-hung more interesting artwork and re-styled a temporary sitting area with pink plush chair and a standard lamp. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to do what they had initially planned – a study area, with in-built cabinetry, but Shaynna still liked what they had done, although she did think they overstyled slightly. “Just because you throw a lot at it, doesn’t make it right,” she said.
