How to add an app to your Facebook page

Hi there! If you’re not into this technical jargon thingy I do sometimes, then you might want to click off me today! You’ll probably start yawning soon… 🙂

Today, I wanted to share a quick tutorial for those who have Facebook pages and have thought about adding an app (or tab) to your Facebook page. See my page for examples.

tab

If you have NO technical ability at all, then this may not work for you.

To create a tab use Static HTML IFRAME Tabs for Facebook Pages. Click install tab and then you’ll see this screen.

tab2

Install the page tab and then below you will see this screen. Pick your Facebook page.

tab3

This is where it gets a little more detailed. In the photo below you can see the spot where you can embed the form (like a mailchimp newsletter form or a fill-out info form), but this is difficult for mobile users to view. My tip would be to embed the form AND provide a link to that form, so they can click out of Facebook and over to EmailMeForm to fill it out if they are having trouble. Once you have saved these details you can go back to your Facebook page and see the tab. It will be the last tab, so you’ll need to move it to the front.

tab4

You can add options like WIN, or just add links to external sites (like I have). You can even embed mailchimp newsletter code.

PS. Now you know how to make Facebook tabs, get to it! Add your website, Instagram.. whatever!

Good luck. X

Morning Katrina – while I am not a facebook page comp girl as I keep my facebook just for friends I do want to say yet again a big thanks for sharing your expertise with all of us. This generosity of spirit you demonstrate time and time again is just a wonderful thing – you really do give of yourself and I am sure that is why so many of us feel a connection to you across the virtual miles. You know this is a sign of a great leader that they just share because they can. Have a lovely day Le xox

I run a giveaway through sweepstakes app already and it usually gets won by someone in the US, (im based in Australia) I can select AU only, but the app doesnt stop people outside AU from entering.
so, I do an Australian Residents Only one on my page from time to time,
If I do a giveaway for exsisting fans who are already likers, and they do not have to share, is this allowed?

Goodness, I feel so ‘old’ and simple. It’s all getting a little bit too hard. Fortunately I haven’t run a comp like the ‘like & share’. I had heard of the changes & deleted pages & been too nervous about what was allowed. So thank you for sharing. Does this mean ‘leave a comment’ below the picture to win type comps (not sharing pic) is also not allowed?

im confused too Kylee, no-one seems to be able to answer these questions.
if they are already a fan of my page, and im not asking them to “like”the post / giveaway, all they have to do is comment on it, whats wrong with that?

      • Katrina (author)

Answering all of these over on my Facebook Page 🙂

can you do a giveaway in a sense, but the item will cost the winner $1.00 ? im pretty sure ive seen plenty of those before ?

How does this work with Rafflecopter? A lot of my blogging friends use it in their competitions – you get an entry for writing a comment, liking their blog page, tweeting about the competition etc. Is that against FB Ts&Cs too? x

Many celebrities are already fascinated using the retro looks of for the reason that, for example, Oprah, Paris Hilton,
Pamela Anderson and Kate Hudson etc. If you might have no idea about whether a pair of boots you want are real or otherwise not, it
really is advisable not to buy them. The
unique qualities in the sheepskin mean that they will keep your
feet warm in even coldest of weather, but that when you put them
on in summer they will not likely overheat your foot.

I don’t know whether it’s just me or if everybody else experiencing problems with your site.

It looks like some of the text in your content are running off the screen.
Can somebody else please provide feedback and let me know if this is happening to them
as well? This could be a issue with my browser because I’ve had this happen previously. Cheers
