It was so sunny there yesterday evening so it looks like a big white blob here. I can’t wait to see it with green grass and plants. I am visualising it all.
And ta-dah. We have some ceiling up. This was supposed to happen last week, but the heat held them up. So they started yesterday. Can’t wait to see what they get done today.
So that’s it! I’m getting ready to move now (in my head). Our lease officially runs out here this weekend (but we’ll take it on for a few more weeks of course) and now we’re paying both rent and for the house, so I need things to move along nicely and I hope there are no hold-ups. My bank account can’t allow that! 🙂 That’s the thing about building – it can be tough when you have to rent as well. I have always envied those people who have family to stay with while they build! Makes it so much easier.
Have you built before? Did you rent, or stay with someone?
Have a great day! X

It’s looking fabulous- I would be getting excited too. We built our first house, but it was with a big building company and we didn’t have to start paying it off until we moved in.

Looking great, keep the photos coming… 😉

Your house is looking better with each photo, love the roofline, love the paint colour, can’t imagine how excited you must be.

We stayed with my parents last time we built (which had its own challenges with 3 boys – one of which I had whilst there!) but this time we are renting. Sam and I are itching to get into our own place again! I think gyprocking starts next week for us.

Looking good!! I’ve never built, just renovated & lived thru the mess & rubble. Would love to build one day….. I’ll keep dreaming!

We are getting really peeved off with our builder at the moment. as our house is still not at completion and we have been paying rent for over 12months then we moved in before completion and are still paying interest only after 17months. hubby is OVER IT.

House is looking great! Love weatherboard 🙂
Living with family while building – you save money but… it definately has it’s cons. Trust.me.

Hi Katrina
Your house is coming along nicely. It looks like your ceilings are quite high, are they 2.7 metres high or higher?
I am building a beach house (slowly) and because my hubby is a plasterer he loves a high ceiling. We are having 3.8 to 4 metres in height but square set (no cornice). Are you having cornice or going for a modern streamlined look inside.

We started building last week. But we get to stay in our (current) house until moving day. The bank will give us more money, then we just sell this house once we leave….

I feel your pain Katrina….. our build went way over time and way over budget….I know you can’t officially move on without occupancy but surely the boys would find it an adventure camping on site if worse came to worse…. if mum and aunty could do it right?

I love the front of your place. the little gable area with the flat sections and the weatherboard front. What a lovely feature. We built 3 1/2 years ago. Its such a stressful time. There are a few regrets with the look of our place but interior wise the house works very well for us. We based the interior on our previous build.
For those of you building I found this place brilliant for ideas. Both during and after the build for interiors and garden advice as well as moral support from others building at the same time. forum.homeone.com.au

No family here :/
We were lucky with our first reno in the fact my girlfriend had an investment rental vacant at the time and rent it out to us at a nice rate.
This time however, the flat was sold ( she apologised – ha ha! 🙂 and so we’re paying a pretty hefty rent as we have to be within commuting distance to school.. we were much less fussy before kids! 😀
Moving Out
The place seems to be good, really good. The front yard needs to have a little landscaping to add some colors on the house design
