Review & video of Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation & Concealer

Brought to you by Nuffnang and Maybelline.

Hi there! Look at me today, I am being a beauty blogger! Just joking, I am not really a beauty blogger and I will leave that to the experts, however, I do like an easy and quick routine in the morning to put my face in order. I don’t have the best skin – it’s full of pigmentation (from years of immunosuppressant drugs), it’s super sensitive and I have had numerous BCC’s removed with a recent skin graft on my nose this year. So, my skin is always calling for some TLC- BUT it has to be easy.

I didn’t even like makeup, and until about 3 or 4 years ago I never wore foundation! As my skin started to change, I knew I had to start looking at easy solutions that wouldn’t make me feel like I was heading in to a dance concert. It had to be light and not difficult to apply. I have no desire to stand in the bathroom for too long in the mornings!

So, when I was asked if I’d like to trial the new Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin range I said yes!

I get funny about foundation though. I always worry that if my skin isn’t well moisturised beforehand it will start to clump during the day and flake off. I need a foundation that has moisture locked in so I can be sure it will stay on fresh all day. I found out that the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin range is the first vitamin enriched long-wear foundation and concealer with skin improving Actyl-C. Now this was a foreign word to me so I looked it up… ACTYL-C is a powerful vitamin which leaves skin feeling energized. Skin looks fresh, healthy and radiant. It helps promote skin regeneration, evens discolouration and dull areas for a fresh, healthy and radiant glow. This sounded like what I needed.

First I colour matched the foundation to my skin tone. It’s available in 8 shades: Beige, Ivory, Cameo, Nude, Sand, Golden, Fawn, and Sun Beige. I went with the NUDE.
Then I started trialing it daily before I made a video about how easy it is to use and how good it ends up looking. My morning routine only took 90 seconds and by the end of the day all my face was still in place! I also noticed a difference straight away – my skin looked smoother, there was less discolouration and I could barely see the skin graft…

Here’s a video I made on how easy it went on…

As you can see I always use zinc under my foundation. I am paranoid about skin cancer after all the troubles I’ve had over the years. Although the foundation is SPF 14 too.

The foundation went on easily with my fingers (I’m not fancy with brushes!) and then the concealer easily pats on. Then I just made sure it was all blended. My bestie is a hairdresser and makeup guru who approved of my efforts as she knows how much I hate too much makeup.

The Breakdown

The two products I tried are:

1. Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation- $21.95. Available in 8 shades.

2. Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer- $14.95. Available in 2 shades: 02 Light & 03 Medium (I used the Light).

This will surely be very informative to all girls out there who love Skin Foundation & Concealer of Maybelline. Keep updating about the products.

Definitely the built in moisture factor! I have horribly dry, flaky skin and am so sick of spending $20-$30 on a foundation only to find out that the formula seems to make my skin look worse. This foundation looks like it would be perfect for my skin type and I would love to try it!

I love it. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now

How do you manage to look soooo amazing WITHOUT make up!!!!!!!!!

Are we suppose to wear the foundation first or the concealer first?

Thank you, Katrina. You looked great btw, and thank you for the review. It looks so easy & practical. How much is it the foundation & the concealer price?

  • Magdalena Marta Zeng

    Thanks heaps Katrina xx

I love that it evens out your skin tone! I’ve been on Humira for 3.5 months now, and it’s the first time my crohns has been under control in 3 years. My skin is terrible. Blotchy and red and full of acne…I feel like a teenager. Thanks for the zinc tip too! I’m getting on to that ASAP!

I’ve often said over the years I was born in the wrong country in the wrong era. Having very fair, very dry skin Australia’s harsh climate doesn’t agree with me. The sun and I just don’t get on. That’s why finding a foundation that moisturises and protects with SPF is vital. I battle keeping my skin looking fresh and plump so would love to try Maybelline’s latest foundation to see if it offers what my skin needs.

Better skin in three weeks? YES! Please take me there!
But Maybelline SuperStay’s SPF14 is the best benefit. I don’t need melanoma’s despair.

Knowing there’s a foundation that benefits my skin I
s most appealing for the situation I’m in
As I age, my skin’s looking worse for wear
It really is annoying and leaves me with despair
But knowing about this foundation I’ll definitely try this out
It’ll help boost my confidence again, of that I have no doubt!

The skin-improving Actyl-C formula of this foundation appeals to me the most.

Thanks to genetics, I’m developing more and more pigmentation spots on my face over the years. Regardless of how much sunscreen I use, sadly it doesn’t change anything (I use so much sunscreen, if you take a photo of me with the camera flash on, you will see my alter ego superhero Spakfilla Girl) I really hope this foundation does work to fade my spots and even out my skintone!
