A lot of people are on the hunt for energy efficient homes when building a new house. And I love that! I like to look over a floor plan which has been carefully thought out to maximise the sun. Did you know that you can have a ‘sun study’ done on a floor plan? So you can be given 3D drawings of your house in all 4 seasons and at multiple times of the day? You can see what the shadows/sun would look like at 9am in winter, then 12pm in winter, then 3pm in summer and 6pm in summer and so on. Clever!
I found this plan today when searching around on Pinterest. This one suits a narrow block, but optimises the sun with the northerly aspect being carefully considered.
The most impressive feature of the home is the seamless integration from the open plan living areas to the beautiful and expansive alfresco area. A perfect spot to entertain friends and family, you can enjoy this area all year round.
You read more about the plan here and see facade photos too.

Like this plan but do not get how it is maximising Northerly aspect of North top of page given no windows that side. Would have thought North right hand side of picture would work best!
