Eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and cystic and non cystic acne is on the rise. A lot of people suffer from these conditions. I do also get rosacea on one side of my face. It flares up from time to time, especially when this 40 year old get hot flushes!

Typically we head to the doctor and ask for steroid cream, or antibiotics. And those things do give you relief temporarily. Because any skin condition can be embarrassing and who wants to walk around with them for everyone to see?! But you can become addicted to the steroid cream.

When you stop using the steroids your skin can go through a withdrawal period making things worse, so the cycle begins and back you go to the steroids and antibiotics. I know this to be 100% true especially with my Crohn’s disease.

Antibiotics also unbalance your gut, so over time (I’ve definitely over-used them in the past) this isn’t good (especially when the doc says “oh, you’ll be on this low dose forever…“).

So, if you want to give a natural therapy a try (also, be prepared for this to take a good month or so for this to start working because your body will be re-balancing after the use of steroids etc), then I recommend a few essential oils.

To replace eczema cream there is another (more natural) option.

Recipe

  • 1/4 cup hard coconut oil (from a health food shop)
  • 3 tsp organic Australian Beeswax pellets (go to eBay)
  • 10 drops doTERRA Tea Tree essential oil
  • 10 drops doTERRA Lavender essential oil
  • 8 drops doTERRA Frankincense essential oil

Instructions

  • Melt the beeswax pellets in a bowl over a pot of simmering water. When it turns liquid, melt the coconut oil in. Remove from heat. When it has cooled for 2 mins, stir through all essential oils and then pour into tins or jars.
  • Use as a salve on eczema.

All of these oils come at a super-low cost within the Home Essentials Kit (see 100 uses for the oils) from doTERRA.

Here’s where you can shop.
