They are very charming though aren’t they? I do love the look of a freestanding bath. BUT you have to remember the cleaning behind it! I am flat out cleaning the bath I have. But the look outweighs the cleaning I say. What do you think?

Check these out…

Team the bath with some gorgeous towels, some black tapware and dark tiles (even a pattern!). Add a timber stool/caddy and some greenery and you’ll have the best bathroom in your neighbourhood!

Do you have a freestanding tub already?

We have recently done a bathroom Reno. We replaced an out dated spa with a new free standing bath. LOVE it!! Our bathroom looks completely different. It’s not flush against the wall so I can still mop behind it. Renovators Warehouse now sell oval freestanding baths where one side is flat so it sits flush against the wall to save space and for cleaning purposes. I would never have a built in bath or spa bath again!!

We are about to do the big reno too. Really love the look of the freestanding baths but am wondering whether I am going to miss the bubbles from our antiquated spa. Have you adjusted to having a bath sans bubbles??

Does anyone have a handsprayer/head for their freestanding bath? Just interested if we got one (good for washing kids hair) but also got a drain put in, if we could just spray behind the bath. If I’ve explained myself properly….

Love freestanding. There are pros and cons for freestanding vs built in. For our new house I’ve decided to get a claw foot ones so I can clean the floor underneath all the way to the back. Cleaning the wall behind isn’t such as big deal as I have a cleaning tool that will do the whole wall. And freestanding seem to be a lot deeper too so you can really sink into them! Plus built-in’s have tiles therefore grout to clean. So they’re king of even in my books and not so bad.

I am toying with the idea of a ‘wet room’ but wondering how ‘wet’ everything will get? Anyone had any experience with this setup? Would you end up with more cleaning trying to keep the mould at bay? Do you have to move all the decorative bits and pieces (candles, stools, plants etc) out every time you have a shower?

The designs of bathroom are amazing. We renovated our bathroom with a Villaboard wall lining. Its ideal for use in bathrooms and wet areas, resistant to damage from moisture, it won’t deform or lose its structural integrity. Try using it once.
