I’m not sure I can easily answer that question… yeah why DO I blog?

I was asked last week by Tim Rosso if I was a full time blogger? Ummm… I stuttered… I suppose.

Am I? I really don’t know?

I suppose I’d have to be if I blog every day. I blog for Kidspot and I design blogs, so I suppose I am a full time blogger. It’s pretty much all I do every day.

I got pulled over by the police last week in my Kidspot car and was quizzed why I had it (VIC number plates) and what do I do? Ummm… I stay at home with the kids and I blog about stuff.

But why? I mean, I don’t earn a single dollar from my own blog, but I insist on blogging every day to make it bigger and better. I am dedicated to it that’s for sure.

I look at other blogs, I watch what everyone is doing, I take it to heart if my blog is ‘having a bad day’, I wonder how can that blog get so many comments, I wonder about BLOGS a lot. I mean, every second person has a blog these days. The community is massive.

I’ve just decided recently that if I don’t make money off this little baby then it’s really not worth it. I mean is it? I spend a lot of time on this blog. I am here every day. I am sharing. I have good statistics (let’s get serious, this gig is a numbers game – it always has been).

Today I’m tackling the big stuff – why do you blog? It’s a question that has been asked a thousand times before, I know. You can tell me you do it for you, for a family record, you love the community… I love all of that too. But at the end of the day, if it’s so massive to me, I gotta get something back out of this. Right?

I love this blogging game. It’s probably the biggest thing in my life right now. This place is all mine. Come and visit me, or not, it’s cool with me.

It absorbs me, it’s taught me a lot about people and where I want to go. It’s been 6 years in this place. I have some great memories, posts and a lot of highs and lows. Maybe I’m getting close to that 7 year itch and I am deciding what to do with this place…

Hmmm… sorry for the vague and strange post today. I’m in pondering mode. I’m restless and anxious. You know that feeling? When you’re not sure about what it is you actually want to do in life??

Anyway, happy Thursday! The kids and I are off for a morning walk… X

PS. I really really want that office nook above! How cool would it be to blog from there every day??

Hey Katrina, of course you’re a blogger. I put it down as my occupation on my census form last year. So you’re totally a blogger! xx

We blog because we like to connect with people, So we don’t feel so alone in life. Its like having hundreds of friends! Husbands and family are fine but we want little soul mates and they are out there. You see the way other people live, their homes, their lives. Its different. Enjoy your blogging Katrina. You are raising three boys, dealing with your health and building a new house. I love reading your blogs including AM. I get withdrawal symptoms if any of you miss a day. So what does that say? KEEP BLOGGING

I am no blogger but I am officially a blog devotee- in the last year or so reading your blog every day has become part of my morning ritual… something to look forward to in between dropping the kids off, starting work. I guess its an escape! It’s a funny thing- even though we have never met I feel a connection to you, and feel part of your blog world!
If only you could be rewarded financially for your passion. You deserve it.

Blogging is like a global neighbourhood in which we can have our own little corner and I think its not what we get out of it but what we put into it that counts 🙂 I love that nook too, my spot is a jammed into a corner of the kitchen which is ok if Im the only one in it! Have a great day!

This is a bit different, but here goes!

I blog because I foster dogs from pounds and I want to show prospective new families what the dogs are up too. I have only just started a month or so a go and it really started when a bought a new camera. I suddenly had all these beautiful photos and I wanted to share them with everybody!

Suddenly blogging is very addictive! I’m glad that as I get new dogs in every couple of weeks I am inspired with new material. They each have their own characters that are easy to write about and photograph. I’m in awe of how other bloggers keep up their inspiration! Katrina, AM and all the others out there with beautiful blogs and new subjects a couple of times a week. That really is a lot of work and energy – so thank you!

PS -Katrina my lab who I adopted came from Wagga pound. In my opinion all the best dogs come from Wagga!

Hi lovely, hope all this pondering doesn’t lead to you stopping blogging… nooooooo!!! Love this space of yours, love you and love all that you share with us and inspire me to aspire to 🙂 You are a gem in this bloggy world. I think the ‘getting something out of blogging’ doesn’t necessarily have to be monetary, it can just be the rewarding sense of being part of a community. I mean, I guess if you have a business or something, a blog in turn could lead to more sales and therefore equal income that way. Can you investigate the advertising on your blog avenue more?

Personally, blogging for me is like a hobby, initially started to connect with like minded individuals- fellow mums, crafters, interiors addicts etc. It still is a hobby for me and it’s my main passion to but I invest as much time into mine as I do because I love it.

Hope you find an answer for all this pondering xx

I know you said everyone’s blogging but I have to tell you. No one….not anyone I know Blogs. I am serious. Its something I used to hide. Its something I found hard to describe to friends.
When I worked in a design retail I used to chat to work friends about our work and what we loved and what we didn’t like. We had good days and bad days and fun days. I am a stay at home Mummy now and yes I miss being in that environment but would I give up my Mummy job….No….so I think Blogging gives me the same feeling of chatting to work friends about what I do or don’t like about my chosen blog field.
I love it so I blog about it. No I don’t make money from it, yet. Maybe in the future hopefully. But I will continue to blog regardless. Because its my time to chat to friends in the new cyber retail world about design things I love.
I am also starting to “come out” to my friends as a blogger and they are receiving this quite positively. They actually are intrigued by it…..and I am starting to be proud of it, proud of my blog I mean, and proud of my time spent on my Blog.
Maybe your just having an off blog day and it makes you question everything. You had one of these days, maybe last year and wondered what to do with your blog, I remember it freaked me out then.
You have to blog for you though, too make you happy. Selfishly I need you to stay doing exactly as your doing now because I love it….Oh and you inspire me, but don’t let that part go to your head.;-)

I have some IRL friends who blog, but most people I meet everyday are really surprised when I say I have a blog, often because they ask me for recipes and I say go to my blog and then I get DO YOU HAVE A BLOG? like it’s is some sort of magical being or something!

I blog because Iam still waiting to find out what I want to do when I grow up, I am sure there will be some more careers to come. I started to blog as a carthartic measure, now I too am hooked on the numbers…. but maybe it is just to write, chat, share, natter and “meet” loads of others out there who like to share….. like your good self (and I thought that WAS your office, nice!) x

Hi Katrina, I am not expert but my policy in life is that we make time for the things that give us joy, the things that make us happier. What else do you expect to get back from your blogging? You probably have enough money (though we all would like more), you have a great family (even though sometimes more alone time would be OK) and you are doing so much with your life that others only wish they could do. Don’t focus on what you’re getting back from blogging unless it is not making you happy to do it anymore……. Pondering is great but beat that 7 year itch back into it’s ditch and do what makes you happy. If that means giving up blogging we will miss you but I will be happy for you that you are persuing your happiness.

I truly enjoy blogging – I figure there are NO RULES, so I can write about or post pictures about anything I want. I haven’t monetized or sought sponsors or hosted giveaways. I don’t sell anything.

I am just enjoying the process. If I have a readership, great. I try to make my posts as entertaining as possible.

Blogging has taught me an amazing amount of skills and created beautiful friendships along the way but if I’m totally honest I see the day looming where I’m only Instagraming. I suppose we all have our preferred forms of social media and Insta just appeals to me on so many levels.
Whatever we do in social media we should enjoy it Katrina and the minute it becomes a chore (especially if like myself I don’t advertise or run a business from my blog) its often time to discover new territory. Anyway that’s what works for me as I like trying new things.

I can’t quite some up why I started this blog recently…. first to keep track of me, to help make sense of being a parent to an Aspergers child, to share all the little bits of creativity that I squeeze into my day, hopefully to insipre and encourage people…. Your blog was one of the ones that encouraged me to just do it! So thanks!
