Fancy sending this home with my kids. What a mean thing to do. Ok, I may have fist pumped and written “YES thank you” on twitter last night.

They’ll be gone in a week if they sit at my house.

The fights have already started. No good can come of this AT ALL.

We’ve already had one each (I may have had 2 shhhh…).

Its a viscious cycle…

Kids are whinging and crying for a chocolate and I give in saying “ok, eat the stupid chocolate – eat it all until you are sick!”

They eat the stupid chocolate, then they race around screaming and punching and fighting each other.

Our house resembled a wild bunch of untamed animals at the zoo last night. So much sugar and screaming.

I’ve been reading all the fuss about Quitting Sugar lately. I know deep down we, as a family, eat far too much of it. I know I do. I love lollies. In fact I think I am addicted to lollies. Yes, I know sugar is not good for me at all.

I don’t think I want my house to be ‘sugar free’, I’m not really interested in that. But I do think we could eat a lot less.

It’s like when you need to go on a diet, or quit smoking… you’ve got to want to do it. I’m almost there, but not quite. 😉

I quit alcohol last year. So I know I can quit stuff. I could rave on and on about the benefits I’ve found in giving up alcohol. Until you do these things, you have no idea what you’ve been missing out on (or putting yourself through)!

So, we’ll just finish this big $50 box of chocolates and then I’ll think about quitting sugar…

    Those fundraising chocolates are sitting in the staff room at my school, I am glad I don’t bring any money to school with me!! I got rid of sugar and high sugar content foods in my house. No more sitting in front of the TV with a block of chocolate. Got rid of cereals, apart from weetbix, got rid of tomato, BBQ & sweet chilli sauce, switched to whole egg mayo, natural peanut butter, kids no longer eat kids yoghurt, my 2yr old loves natural greek yoghurt, no longer buy sweet biscuits and lollies. My 4 yr old is very aware of sugary foods but knows that she can still have them sometimes and when she is at parties. It doesn’t help that my mum is a cake decorator and always seems to have off cuts at her house, that I cannot resist!! My advice with sugar is to look at what’s in your fridge and pantry and swap the high sugar foods for something with less sugar.

    Since quitting grains & sugar I lost 20kgs, my fibromyalgia symptoms disappeared & I LOVE working out! It also opened up a whole new world of alternatives to what is really ’empty’ foods – they don’t do anything ‘for’ your health & they don’t really fill you up either. I still bake HEAPS, as I have 4 kids, but we cook with almond flour, buckwheat flour, 70% dk choc, xylitol, raw honey & palm sugar, all much more nutritious stuff that actually ADDS to your health. Some of my kids react dreadfully to sugar but I know you can’t avoid it everywhere so yes, they still go to parties & occasionally have sweet treats out, but I am trying to teach them that their bodies will always work better for them, with the right fuel. 🙂

    Oh, and out of a family of 6, other than my son’s tonsils coming out for a speech disorder, none of us have needed a dr for nearly 2 years 🙂
