Truly, I love my bathrooms. I had the vanities custom made (to match my kitchen and laundry), and they are perfect. The ensuite bathroom is identical but smaller. The mirrors go all the way to the ceiling. The tops are Osprey Caesar Stone and I love the trough-style sinks. It’s pretty basic, but I didn’t want anything over the top. I also didn’t want any colour.

BUT…

I stuffed up with the taps! Well, the spouts. I love the flick handles, but the spouts aren’t big enough and only just reach in to the sinks. Why didn’t someone (namely the plumbing shop!) say something at time of purchase?? Argh.

Anyway, of course it can be easily fixed and I can attach bigger spouts, but it all costs $$…

I have one of those 3-way bathrooms. In the opposite room is the bath and shower and the toilet is separate.

If you could have a new bathroom what is a must-have for you?

Or if you have a new bathroom do you have any regrets?

We moved into a 6 year old house 9 months ago. The vanities in the bathrooms are so stupid! The cupboards, the drawers – they are too small to fit anything in them. Also they don't go to the ground, so of course it's a great place for dust and hair to get underneath and makes it super hard to clean.

Gorgeous! But frustrating about the taps… Your giant bathroom makes me green with envy…. I wish I could make our bathroom bigger, when we renovate it’s going to be a tricky jigsaw.

Yes we have long ago finished a whole house reno and there are a few regrets I have too – but that goes down to experience.

Oh I see what you mean! Our last house had the same problem in the main bathroom. It didn’t worry me that much because I hardly used that bathroom (just cleaned it) but it would have irked me if I had to use the taps all the time. Our current basins are square too but mine really annoy me as they don’t drain particularly well – toothpaste, etc just sits at the bottom and doesn’t go anywhere. The ones we have specified at the reno house have a slightly rounded base to stop that sort of thing happening. Your bathroom looks great btw! xx

Ahhh painful! Mine drain fine, it’s just the water only just reaches so little hands splash water everywhere! Good luck with yours Caroline. X

I LOVE three way bathrooms! I first experience one of these when living in Teacher Accommodation in Nth Qld. The duplexes were designed this way with people having to share accommodation in mind. No bathroom hogging goes on with these kind of bathrooms. We designed a bathroom like this in a house we built 10 years ago. Would do it again if I had the room.

Hi Katrina, we built a home and the cabinet maker made the vanity too low…my husband and I are almost 6ft and they were way to low….anyway, the builder refused to have them re built!!!!! And they hung a swing door from the vanity area into the bathroom instead of the slider we had in writing in our inclusions list!! Once again, it was too late to have it fixed! So I understand how these little things can be frustrating!!

Hi, we have done the same thing in the bathrooms in our renovation, it truly does my head in every time I use the sink yet not enough to fix it as we see the $$ signs also, we live and learn hehe.

Penny mine don’t move side to side too and I just realised two days ago after being here nearly a month that they kinda bug me. I didn’t realise until I tried to move one and it wouldn’t budge.

Yes, wouldn't it be great if the plumbing shops could ask a few more questions sometimes. It looks great otherwise.

Katrina – I hear you. Sometimes its is hard to visualise the end product to the "nth" degree. What taps are they? They look like Bastow Georgian. What do think you could do to fix it? The larger one??

This might sound crazy but could the spout be reshaped to aim more into the middle if the trough?? A cheap alternative and it'd be an original lol I know the floating cupboard is modern but I couldn't waste that storage space. Love ur style 🙂

Aww, at least it looks fabulous even if the functionality isn’t quite how you want it! And on the plus side you have given me something to consider, renovating our ensuite right now and haven’t yet bought tapware 🙂
