I have been spending a lot of time lately listening to Podcasts. I usually always have music in my ears or the tv going in the background when I’m at home, but over the last month or two I’ve been filling my brain with some Podcasts.
Above is a screenshot of my latest ‘shows’. I have ditched Netflix for a while (horror!) and have been pumping out these Podcasts. I have found them so interesting and I enjoy the idea of being able to multi-task at the same time. I can get all the housework done, or make a trip driving somewhere much more interesting.
It all started with S-Town. I was sucked in by that story. I loved it. Then I went to Serial and listened to the two mini-series stories there. I particularly loved Invisibilia. The girls were good to listen to and their stories were great. Then I followed through with all the others in the photo above, and my latest is the TED Radio Hour. That is so varied and really gets you thinking. I like that kind of thing.
Have you got any other I should add to my list? I really like the interesting stuff, not so much the chit chat, or comedy stuff. There are some voices on a few Podcasts I have flicked to that I find hard to listen to. I’ve also done a few episodes of ‘The Way I Heard It With Mike Rowe’ and these are short 6 minute stories (which are great!), but for some reason his voice makes me shuffle and feel uncomfortable…! I have had to pause that one for a while.
I’d love to hear about what you’re in to!

I see a trend here! Haha! True crime!! I found the mike Rowe one boring if I’m honest, the stories just didn’t grab me.
I love love love happier with Gretchen Ruben it just changes your framework of thinking into a more positive way without being trite or condescending.
I also LOVE bitch sesh which is sooooo funny if you’re a fan of the housewives franchise.

I’m loving Trace and recently discovered Australian True Crime.
You might like Tall Tales and True- a mix of stories based on “everyone has a story” including the lead detective on the Falconio case

Hi Katrina,
I too have ditched the movie/tv watching for Podcast listening. I work from home making costumes so spend alot of time by myself. I have most of the ones you have shown with the exception of Australian true crime so I will look that up.
My very favorite podcast is an Australian ABC one. Conversations with Richard Fidler. Incredibly random topics that I always give a go and consequently listen to stuff that I never thought would interest me. Amazing stuff! (And no ads)
I also like Heres the thing with Alec Baldwin and Young House Love have a podcast.

Guy Raz from the Ted Radio Hour has another one called How I Built This – he interviews entrepreneurs about how they when from nothing to millions/billions. I love that one. I also really like Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History, although I think the first season was better than the current second season – particularly Carlos Can’t Remember, Food Fight and My Little Hundred Million (trilogy on education system/elite US universities). Looking forward to reading through these comments to get some other recommendations!!
