So we all know who won… It was revealed that Darren & Dee would find themselves with another gig on The Block this year. Boy oh boy. What do we think of that?? No disputing the fact they can style up a storm, but I will admit this year’s format is not my favourite. Too much reality (or scripted amateur comedy). I just want to see rooms and reno. Plus it took a very long time to get to this end result! Which means a very long season and I am not sure the audience will stick around long enough to connect. The challenges and time frames are getting silly with contestants being delirious and unwell…

I have to agree. I have found myself recording the show so I can fast forward the rubbish, their personal videos etc not interested. More Reno less of the other stuff.

This week was a bit boring as it was only about the couples thinking & second guessing their decisions. Not the actual creating & designing. And while Darren & Deanne annoy people I just love their style so can’t wait to see what they do.

D&D are tops never is there anything I don’t like but having said that matt and Kim and Bec and George’s rooms were divine…
I really think it’s very hard judging when someone is experienced hence the newbies got hammered I think they were great too xx

I don’t know if it’s because we feel we only just watched the block but I cannot get my head into this series. Last year I was glued to the tv looking for ideas.
Dee has style you have to give that to her. But it’s not enough to pull me in.
I’ll just wait til you put them up on your website and save me all that time.

Wow I absolutely love Matt & Kim’s room! Gorgeous. I agree about the season length, I am usually a Block tragic but I’ve been putting off watching it until the teams are all sorted because sometimes there is such a a thing as too much reality TV for me! More reno, less drama please Channel Nine.

This room was perfection, not sure if they finish to the end of the series which a shame as I love Deas style.

I’m a little confused. Obviously D&D’s room is better then the newbie’s (according to the scoring by the judges). Won’t it be every week? Therefore meaning they will win every week??…. I just don’t understand how its going to be an even competition when they already have a seasons worth of experience. I guess its the same as fans vs faves. But it seems like these newbies need a few weeks to step it up…. :-S

I am tuning out this season – too much narrating and scripting and not enough actual renos. Each year the blok gets bigger and better and the contestants have to do so much more. I think they really are pressing their limit. How much lack of sleep, more eating and physical work and stress can the contestants take? I hope noone gets on the bad side of Dee, watch out if they do! I think they will be taking the win most weeks, they have the most experience and style!

Completely agree with the over scripted nonsense. It’s getting a bit silly. I want to see more reno’s and where they guys are getting their style inspiration from. It’s really falling away from the format we fell in love with and more of what can get the sponsors on board and the money in. Also they need to stop doing apartment blocks! People in Melbourne want their own singular address now not 1/4,5, or 273. If the spread their wings into Collingwood/ Fitzroy/Port Melbourne and brought up some of the terraces than are getting demolished en masse they may get better auction results. A little bit of grass is going a long way in the market right now.

The season you were on Katrina was the first one I watched and I was hooked. I loved the renovating / building aspect with just a bit of styling thrown in for good measure. Now I feel like they are all about pushing these poor people to breaking point and seeing who is the most experienced stylist. I thought it was a real shame that the brother and sister team didn’t make it through because I liked that he was going to do more building and stuff himself. I really hate the drama that D&D bring to the show, and I have to say I was disappointed that they made it on again. I loved that Kim and Matt did something totally different and that that Bec & George went out of their way to design their own furniture. I think I will be recording and fast forwarding most of this season.

Can’t be bothered watching. The show has turned into a mid-20s hipster ad. It’s a reno show, not a soap opera. Sick of Melbourne, sick of units, sick of manufactured controversy that sends people to breaking point. From the promos I gather that Dan will replace Darren due to his illness. I wish him well.

Matt and Kim demonstrated a uniquiness that was exquisitley beautiful and exceeded the others. Whilst the D’s and Bec and George rooms were lovely, Matt and Kym were at a level beyond their peers

Yep losing interest with the block big time! More about the Reno and less about the competitors please.
