There is nothing worse than standing back after all your hard work and realising your beautiful pendant lights are not lined up properly. Crooked pendants or lighting that is off-centre can completely throw off the whole space, especially when you have feature ceilings or tricky layouts.
We just did ours and I wanted to share exactly how we tackled it to make sure every pendant was in the perfect spot.
Here’s how we did it:
We grabbed some blue tape, the laser level, a tape measure, and of course, cranked a playlist of bangers to keep the mood light. It actually turned into a fun afternoon of planning, measuring, and double-checking everything before the sparkies got stuck in.
We marked out the kitchen island, the dining table, and the lounge area to make sure all the pendants line up exactly where they should. Having those key furniture pieces mapped out gives you proper reference points and means the lights will sit exactly over the spots you want them to.
Our ceiling is timber-lined, which looks stunning but leaves zero room for mistakes. You cannot patch up timber the same way you can with plaster, so getting the wiring and lights right the first time is critical.
Bit of planning now saves the regret later. If you are working on your new build or renovation, take the time to measure it all out before your electrician starts cutting holes. You will thank yourself down the track.
