Ok, so I have 3 kiddies and they are all boys. I am on the downward run and am currently trying to train my 3rd child. I know all about toilet training and battled on with both of my older boys. It went on for months and neither of them totally ‘got it’ until they were almost 3 & 1/2!! We start off good, but end up back in nappies. I read EVERYTHING I could with both of them, but they just wanted to do it in their own time.

And….it’s happening again. Number 3 child will be 3 in about 7 weeks. We have started the toilet training and some days are awesome and others are sh*t. We are still only at wee stage (he saves the poos for a nappy at his day sleep – clever I tell you!). And tonight he was not going to do a wee on the toilet. He cried on and off for hours. He will hold it! He won’t wet his pants (well he will after about 4 hours of holding it if he doesn’t give in to the toilet!!!), but he jiggles and jiggles. Even the bath didn’t bring the wee on, he just jiggled through it. He is now in bed (with a nappy on), but I know he is not asleep because he is still jiggling (and even refuses to wee in the nappy).

Oh the mind games and torture kids can play…..

Oh the joys! When Leroy was toilet training, I was told by someone who had 5 boys and 2 girls, that boys just take longer and that they're mostly after 3, and even 3.5 yrs before they get it. I saw all these little girls knowing what they were doing at 18 months and wondered why, wishing my boy would just learn, and do it quickly. In their own time I guess huh?! At least you know with two older ones, it WILL happen eventually!
Love that photo you found for this post!

At least yours poos in his nappy – my youngest used to poo in his undies and that is a hell of a lot worse I can tell you! It took my youngest until he was 3 1/2 so don't worry, it'll happen. Kathryn.

Thanks Katherine. Yes I am waiting for the poo in the undies thing! My others did that, so I am truly not looking forward to it!

Hey Sarah, Yes I find toilet training harder than teaching-to-sleep or any of those other hard bits! He is getting too big to be in nappies and he is too clever to be doing it in them. Anyway, time will tell, and we may be back in nappies haha!

#2 son was 3-1/2 before he was trained. You want to know the word 'challenge'? Have a MIL who informs you that your husband was potty trained at 13 months. I didn't even TRY!

Good Luck katrina. Toilet training is so hard. Little Riley at 20 months is telling us 'poos' when he ned to go so yesterday we tried to put him on the loo. but he wouldn't do it.
