Today I wanted to mention a fun new way UNCLE TOBYS is encouraging our kids to eat a healthy breakfast before they head off to school. My children need to eat the very second their eyes open in the morning and we always have a well-stocked pantry full of UNCLE TOBYS Oats (I’m not kidding you!). I have even trained my 11 year old to make his own porridge! Sometimes we even bring out the oats for afternoon tea because apparently the boys are “sooo starving” all the time 😉

UNCLE TOBYS is introducing the all new My Little Oats campaign (www.mylittleoats.com.au), a tab housed on the UNCLE TOBYS Facebook page. The new hub is stacked full of tips and tricks to achieve more during the breakfast period and get your kids enjoying one of the most natural, nourishing breakfasts on offer, oats. I absolutely love this initiative and encourage you to click over and take a look at all the tips other Mum’s are sharing + don’t forget to share your own!

The link also houses a host of quick, fun activities to play with whilst you prepare breakfast for your kiddies. From colouring in stencils, to uploading a photo of creative oats breakfast creations to making your own bespoke placemat. CLEVER!

And just by liking the UNCLE TOBYS page and reading this blog post, I am going to give you a chance to WIN a fabulous prize! Here it is…

I entertain my kids at breakfast time by asking them to make their own breakfast!! My nearly 10 year old has been making his own porridge for breakfast since last winter and my 6 year old favours weetbix. BUT she does make a muesli mix consisting of oats and cinnamon, then has it with natural yoghurt and honey. We really eat a lot of oats around here, so this prize would be invaluable!!

And then I could entertain them by filming them going at snail’s pace getting ready for school. Wonderful!

This is sooooo exciting thank you Katrina! And thanks as well to Uncle Toby’s and Canon – I can’t wait! Hopefully it really will help with getting to school on time now that the kids can make their breakfast in 90 seconds!

No need for entertainment here. It’s like feeding time at the zoo. The entertainment is supplied.

No need for entertainment here, the kids know to sit up at the table and eat their breakfast. Miss 3 gets an input into what she would like to eat, and currently in this cooler weather porridge with honey drizzled on top is a winner. Breakfast has always been eaten as a family, together in our house! Miss 1 does have to be reminded not to feed the dog who sits under her high chair!

I entertain my wild boys running around frantically, chucking a tanty because the lunchboxes are still in the school bag from yesterday and looking for school shoes & hats they tossed ‘God knows where’ while my porridge is burning on stove and I can’t find where I left my cup of tea…
“MUM , MUM, MUM your porridge is smokin’ !”
Mum – get the broom the smoke alarm will go off.
I’d love quick oats but it would be less entertaining for everyone.

Well my eight year old daughter is a chatter at brekky time. It’s like a mouth full an hour between stories. Cute but inconvenient. So I pull out the kitchen timer and it’s a race to ‘beat the ticker”. If she beats the ticker, she gets a prize in her lunchbox.

We are so starved for entertainment in our house the kids read the milk bottle and the clock on the microwave. Over and over again. We would let them read the cereal boxes but we put all the cereal in tupperware. At least with boxes of quick oats we would probably not tip them all into tupperware so they could finally have something to read at breakfast that is not a story about Aussie Farmers Direct and their cows.
