Benefits of sheer curtains…

  • Diffuse the light and maximise natural light
  • Stylish and look expensive
  • Light control and privacy
  • Versatile as they can be on their own or over a roller blind
  • Cost effective

The debate and tricky thing about them is always how do you mount a sheer curtain? The 2 main options would be a rod or a track. This would depend on whether you want the mount hidden or visible.

If you’re doing a DIY then most likely you’ll be using a rod. The higher the rod the bigger the room will feel. It will usually tuck up under the cornice.

If you have a track installed you can see from the photos above they look really good if you have a square set cornice. BUT you can still use a track with a curved cornice. It just means again you’ll butt the track right up to the cornice.

To confuse you a little more you can also have a sheer curtain made in different ways – s-fold (most popular), pleat or with eyelets.

So, if I was going to install sheers in an existing house, I’d look at a track with the s-fold and install it right up against my cornice and let the curtains fall to the ground. That seems to be the most popular.

Have you been thinking about sheers? What’s your experience been with them? ♥ KC.
