Today, I feel like blogging about blogging.
I feel like spreading some blogging cheer.
Who is feeling lost in the BIG sea of the blogging world? It can feel like that sometimes hey?
Yesterday I felt a little lost when a publicity company told me to keep up the good work and looks like I’m doing a great job blogging. HUH?
What did that mean? It was such a weird comment. I didn’t know I need affirmation.
This is my point.
Do we need affirmation? Maybe we do. Maybe we need someone to tell us we ARE doing a great job, no matter our statistics, followers, readers…
I got knocked back from that publicity company and I have no idea why. If they measure who they want to work with based on statistics, then I smash more than half of their current bloggers out of the water. I just didn’t get it.
But obviously I got knocked back for some other reason.
I started thinking (actually I thought about it all night)… I sort of got angry and wanted to write back to them and question their comment.
BUT what would that achieve?
So, I woke up today and thought what can I do to make the bloggingΒ worldΒ a better and more supportive community?
I can teach.
I can share.
I can encourage.
I can run my own race.
I can open my eyes.
AND…
I want you to know that you are doing a great job.
If you need help in an area, or get stuck, how can I help you?Β
I want you to know that I am happy to help you where I can. I don’t want to blog just for me. I want you to read my blog and feel happy to be here. I’m speaking a Blogopolis next month and I’d love to know if you’ll be there. Come and see me talk about blog design. Hopefully I give you some handy hints π
Today, I want to share with you some of MY favourite blogs. I don’t get a chance to read them everyday, but when I can I’m locked in.

Katrina great post and thanks for the mention. I agree with Megan and truly believe that things happen for a reason. Blogging is fantastic and because of this I have met the most amazing girls you included. Sandy xx

Blogging is a funny thing. I’ve been at it for a long time and most of the time I feel like I’m under my own little rock, doing what I do. Personally I don’t think representation like that is a good thing for every blogger. I’ve much respect for you, Katrina. It’s their loss. x
Katrina
Thanks Tina, I really appreciate your comment. I was feeling mushy yest. I’ve really loved the comments here, so I am taking everyone’s advice on board xo

It is so interesting that no matter how big or small we are in this bloggy-scape, we often feel like we are just missing the mark. See I feel like this all the time, and I look to bloggers of your calibre and think “one day, one day”, so I think a lot of the above comments are so true – we all have to run our own race, But also know that I think you are running yours way out in front! π
I have been blogging over at http://edanrose.blogspot.com for the last few years and have just started a new blogging/business venture with my friend at http://www.kithandco.com and can I ask you a question? I need advice re: wordpress.com v’s wordpress.org, is this something in your expertise or do you know someone who is an expert on wordpress? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! And we will be at blogopolis, so look forward to hearing you speak there x

Oh I wish I’d been in the chosen few, but happy to support any independent Aussie bloggers really. What’s not to love, and share?

We love your blog as it is Katrina. You always keep it real. Stand alone and do your own thing….look at all the opportunities you have had already! Go girlfriend!!! X

Just went through and read/commented on the other 9 blogs in your list – I even started following some of them that resonated with me! Great list Katrina!

For me, a good blogger is one whose posts can inspire people to better themselves; whose tips have made a lot of thing easier for newbies and so on.

I really enjoy reading your blog and really relate to the the things you write about your kids as I also have 3 loud boys!
I am still really new to this whole blogging thing and have NO idea about how to change my blog at all! I am looking forward to meeting you and some of my other fav bloggers at Blogopolis!! See you there
Jane
Hi Katrina – first can I say your blog is authentic and that is really important. I agree that it is all about engagement with your audience and you do that brilliantly. Second, if you only read some blogs it is easy to feel left out as they are quite cliquey and create the impression that bloggers spend their lives going to conferences and events, winning awards and hanging out with other bloggers and being given free things. That is actually not really what I want to read about, frankly. I am also not that interested in looking at ads although some little ones are fine. And of course i fully accept that some people really do want to make money from their blogs and others do not. So this PR exercise you are talking about ( although of course they call it something like brand codevelopment) is going to be very interesting to watch . I think Australian blogging is probably where the US was about three or four years ago. More specifically based on what you and AM have said it is certainly puzzling that they have invited bloggers to contact them and then pretty much rejected everyone. Such an interesting topic I would talk about this all day!! Xox
Katrina
thanks Jane, I appreciate you reading my blog and commenting!
Tina
Love “I can run my own race”. No point running everyone else’s… you’d only tire yourself out, or quit. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks Katrina! I really needed to read that. Sometimes I get disheartened by the feeling lost that you describe in this big blog world. I love to blog and will be updating more and more. Please read my blog. More topics coming! Follow me people or comment. I’d love some feedback. I will also soon be blogging as a co-contributer for Little Miss Gorgeous a beauty company on health/beauty and will link to my own style blog.
Love reading your blog Katrina! Xo

Oh, Katrina. I am typing this with my left hand after my hand surgery yesterday. I should be resting but couldn’t let this pass without comment.
Forget about them. You’re right – you don’t need their validation.
You are a shining light in blogging’s bright firmament. I am convinced of that.
You’re always so willing to share your expertise so generously and have helped so many of us pretty up our blogs. You also write so honestly and engagingly about your life – that’s so refreshing.
I’m sure there are many other more appealing possibilities out there for you, my friend! J x

I had been living under a rock, and had never even read a blog until January…and I wrote my first one not long after. It’s a strange feeling when you enter this blogging world as a teeny tiny fish in a big blogging pond! I LOVE your blog, every bloody one of them….and they look fantastic! I have so much to learn about this new world that I’ve discovered, and it’s blogs like yours that I love to learn from! Thanks π
Kelly
I’m new to blogging (very new) and have obviously been hiding under a rock somewhere because it is AWESOME! Anyway, just found this post and wanted to say thankyou! There is so much to learn… Now I’m off to check out your favourite blogs π
