Here’s the final Mother’s Day project for you. Have you had a look at the others? I’ve saved the best for last I think! Today I am going to show you how to make an easy and personalised Mother’s Day gift using your own photos and a garden pot!
What you’ll need:
- Photos – pop them on a USB stick or print straight from your phone using pictures saved to your Facebook or Instagram. Then head to Officeworks and use their easy Kodak Picture Kiosks in store. Within minutes you’ll have your photos. For this project I chose photos to be printed in a collage strip and then photocopied them to be black. You can always order the prints online but they can take 10 days to be delivered, so in store is a quick and inexpensive option. This cost me about $2.
- Scissors
- Super glue
- Paint
- Garden pot in the terracotta finish so paint will stick
- Decoupage glue
- Rope (ribbon or twine will do)
Step 1:
Cut out the photos singularly.
Step 2:
Paint the pot in your desired colour and give it 2 coats.
Step 3:
Once the pot has thoroughly dried, coat the back of the photos with the decoupage glue. The reason I have used this product is because it dries clear and is an all-in-one glue, sealer and finish. I’ll also use it later on to coat the outside.
Step 4:
Place the images around the outside of the pot.
Step 5:
Let the photos dry for a few hours. Then use the decoupage again to coat the entire pot all over. It goes on white like thick glue.
Step 6:
After about an hour you’ll see the glue has dried clear, so don’t stress when you see the white gluggy look!
Step 7:
Once it had dried I super-glued little bit of rope around the edge of the photos (to hide the fact the pot is on a slant and the photos had a wonky join on the top).
Add a plant from the nursery and here’s a beautiful gift to give your Mum on Mother’s Day (or for anyone special in your life!). Why not create your own personalised photo pot? It’s super easy and inexpensive!
