I had an Instagram competition last week where you could win some paint and I had 4 items where you had to vote on what I would paint next. The tins were the winner! I finished this little DIY project yesterday using paint from Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan (my blog sponsor).

Here’s what the tins looked like before I added some small touches to them. I bought them from my friend who owns a pop shop in Wagga called Two Broke Mums.

I didn’t want to slap paint all over them, but I wanted to do something cool and still keep the rustic/yellow look. So for this project I decided to use the colours Florence and Graphite.

I bought the little stencils from Spotlight (they have heaps of patterns). I was rough and didn’t worry about going all the way to the ends, and I wasn’t precious about pulling the stencil off. The rougher the better! I put some Florence (the green/blue colour) on the ends and then some Graphite on the sides. Just whatever I felt like!

I let them dry really well over night. I then got a fine sanding pad and went over them all so the paint was smooth and even. Plus I rubbed off bits here and there just so it looked a little messier.

I think I will stack them here properly on my sideboard, or I might even use one in my bathroom for something fun!

Do you have a project which could use a lick of paint?

Check out all the Chalk Paint™ here and also find the nearest retailer (or buy online here).

Happy DIY-ing! ♥ KC.

This looks amazing, I love that you left them a little rustic and didn’t paint all the way to the ends. I love them loosely stacked, they look fab!
