How do you clean your floors?

Hi there! Thanks for stopping in today…

I wanted to talk to you today about floors… Aren’t they just the worst thing to keep on top of? I can’t think straight when I have dirty floors, so I am one of those painful people who uses the vacuum every day and mops every 2nd day. I know! You’re thinking who has time for that? Hahaha I don’t have the time, but I can’t stand dirty floors, so I whip around them like my life depends on it 😉

I have a LOT of floorboards in my house. And they’re shiny and brand new. So I have to keep on top of them. I’ve had these floors before (floating timber floors in a spotted gum) so I know they need to be cared for. Plus, remember I have 3 boys, so they don’t stay clean for long – they always need a little TLC.

The floorboards are in every part of my home except the wet areas and 4 bedrooms. So there’s HEAPS of them…

Mopping for me usually takes a good half hour. I get a real sweat up. Then I have to wait for them to dry!

Dettol asked if I’d like to trial their new Dettol Floor Cleaning System and Wipes. Ahhh you betcha I would! I couldn’t wait to give this a whirl.

The mop comes in 2 parts – the “prime” which is the cleaning stick with a swivel head and the “refill” which are the floor wipes to use with the stick (15 per pack). My 11yo child put it together for me – it was very simple!

I told the boys to all sit still and watch Mummy whip around the house with this little beauty. They kept yelling out “is is easy Mum?“, “look how it’s drying straight away!” and “it smells fresh!“. No joking, they were loving it too!

Instead of my usual routine of getting the mop out, filling up and hot bucket and hand wringing the mop out (yes, because have you ever found a decent mop that doesn’t need hang wringing??), plus waiting forever for the floor to dry… this Dettol system cut out ALL of that. All I had to do what put a disposable wipe on the end of the mop and get to it. In the process it kills 99.99% of germs (such as E.coli and Staphylococcus), cuts through grease, dirt and grime gave those floorboards a sparkling shine and fresh fragrance.

Perfect for keeping things clean between those big floor mops that I will still have to do every now and then – you know, 3 boys and all! But this simple swivel mop will save me a heap of time because I can have it out and swept around in a  matter of minutes. Then I can throw the wipe away! Heavenly.

So I’m off to mop again! Did I tell you how much I loved the smell?? 😉

Oh, and just grab a system from your supermarket. I’ll be grabbing some more floor wipes for sure.

Always read the label and use only as directed.

How do you clean your floors? What’s your technique? Or you’d rather not do them? 😉

Have a great day. KC.
