What’s in my bathroom?… My favourite cosmetics

These are my favourites. I use them almost every day. I’m pretty set in my ways about what I like. I don’t go for expensive stuff and I don’t like fancy make-up. You’ll probably never see me wearing lipstick. I’m boring with my make-up and I wear the same stuff even when I’m going out. I’ve always been like this. Even on my wedding day I wore lip gloss – I’m a big fan of the ChapStick!

I use MD Formulations facial scrub in the shower every few days.

I love my Juuce Jumbo shampoo and conditioner, followed by a smidgen of Moroccan oil.

I moisturise with either $3 vitamin E cream or I use the Nivea Soft. It’s about $6.

I always wear invisible zinc and love the Garnier BB cream. I don’t use a foundation – I just use the BB.

I use Revlon eye-shadow in the above colours and the Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara every single day.

Then I’ll hunt in my handbag for a ChapStick when I’m walking out the door.

That’s it! I’m not too precious about my cosmetics – but I do insist on always having my nails done. Funny creatures us women! Haha! 😉

What’s your fav cosmetic?

I’m the same, not a fusspot when it comes to my face or hair. Just a few simple routine additions. A good quality facial moisturiser, Revlon eyeliner, stay on lipstick and a very good quality leave in conditioner and I’m happy. I do like to try new products from time to time but I couldn’t live without these basics. G.x

How good is Morrocan Oil! Heaven sent on my blonde hair. I tried the Garnier BB cream but it was my least favourite of all I’ve tried, it makes my skin so itchy and is just a little too thin and dewy. I quite like the Clinique BB but I’m yet to find a cheapie that I like. When you’re in America I totally recommend stocking up on cosmetics, so much cheaper. I’d also recommend the Urban Decay “Naked” or “Naked 2” eyeshadow palette, it’s got everything you’ll ever need. Definitely go to Sephora if you can.

I love BB Cream…I was always a big foundation girl but as I have got more wrinkles it just made me look even older wearing it, so I tried the BB cream and felt like I had had an instant botox job, I love the stuff and no longer wear foundation, even at night (not that I go out much!)

My favourite mascara that I have used forever is the pink and green Maybelline one. I have tried others but always go back to this.

I do have a weakness for lipgloss and have far far too many in the light clear/peachy sort of shades.

For skin care I like Natio and make sure I stock up when they have gift with purchase, they are really generous 🙂

I’m afraid it’s only Arbonne for me now! When I found out what was in most cosmetics on the shelf and felt how soft and beautiful my skin was i had to change to Arbonne. It is all botanically based and the smell is divine.

I’ve heard lots about Arbonne. My girlfriend just ordered some so I’ll see what she thinks 🙂

Help me out here please. What is BB cream? I thought it was a foundation? I bought some after hearing the lovely Mrs Woog loved it, but like Ruth, it doesn’t do anything for me. Was wondering if I’m using it wrong? how do you apply it? And thanks for yesterday’s facebook cover instructions, many people have commented on my collage of family photos. I linked to your blog. Cheers, Kylee

It’s a tinted mouse/moisturiser. I use the tinted invisible zinc too so with both on my face I get good coverage. Yes, I can see it’s not for everyone – depends on your skin/blemishes etc. 🙂

Hey KC, I wrote a similar post a few months back. I’m like you, its always easy & not nessecarily expensive. Glad to see two of my everyday staples made it onto your list too. The Garnier BB & the Morroccan oil. I am going to try your mascara, as I am a mascara freak. Hope all the packing is going well for NY. Thinking of you. Have a ball. Niki

I’m like you – simple everyday products for me. I ditched foundation a while back and have since worn tinted moisturiser. I asked for some recommendations a little while back on my blog and a few people suggested the BB cream you use – I’m trying to find their oil free version to give it a go. Like you, I stick to the same old products I know and love – nothing too expensive or fancy, just simple ones I love. One product I’ve used for ages now is Neutrogena Facial cleanser.

In a previous life I was a make up artist…and no that doesn’t mean I told lies for a living…I was trained in Brisbane by Franklin Chaloner (at Franklin International) who I am sure told us once he was make up artist to Joan Crawford (of Mommy Dearest fame)…a long long time ago…he was a wonderful man! I say was, because he has since passed away…the world is poorer for his passing. He taught me A LOT! His favourite saying was Cu-pointo-pointo-blendo-blendo – what that meant was BLEND THAT MAKE UP – don’t leave any tell-tale LINES or visible signs of where one colour stops and another begins…and after THAT make up lesson – the truth is I am a make up addict underneath it all, but nothing like I was. Friends used to joke I wouldn’t check the mail without lipstick! Like you, these days I prefer lipgloss, but I do still go for BOLD coloured lippy in winter. I feel I need the colour…pale and pasty does not look good on me!

I LOVE Moroccan oil or more particularly argan oil as I have thick curly hair and it really tames the wild beast! 😉 Well almost! I’m still wild…

I am a massive Garnier and Nivea fan! I don’t mind Olay, but I rarely use it now. I use the Nivea Visage moisturiser with the SPF15 (for around $7)

My fave make up was Max Factor (the make up of make up artists) 😉 But I love Mac and Napolean. I was taught with Pola but not so fussed on it now.

I don’t believe half the stuff these companies tell us and everything in my drawer these days retails for $12 or less! I am minimalist now…I have zero time to get too involved, but I DO LOVE to dress up when I can, I just would NOT want that pressure every single day, unless someone was doing it for me…

And occasionally I get stuck in the make up and can’t move… 😉

And here ends mine epistle! 😉

Love me some skincare and cosmetics! I too tried BB creams, i bought an Estee Lauder one in Hong Kong last year – they were stocked everywhere over there and the asian girls have such beautiful skin! I use a cheap scrub in the shower 2-3 times a week and I love Cetaphil cream cleanser daily – so cheap but so good! One thing I cant skip is spf30+ moisturiser and I splurge here buying Ultraceuticals or Skinceuticals. I also love Mac Studio fix foundation and need a bit of blush too – I use bourjois blush pots, I buy them when they are on sale haha…and cheap lipgloss in berry or cherry shades. I skip mascara, love the look it gives but hate the racoon eyes I get haha…

I had similar taste as your bathroom products, love MD Formulations until Iately I keep reading about the amount of chemicals in these products. Particularly petroleum. The same stuff they use as car coolant. Freaked me out so I am slowly replacing my beloved skincare and make up. Don’t pick me for a greenie, just becoming more aware of what my skin is lavished in. My children will also benefit too I hope. I’m a sucker for pretty packaging and finding chemical free alternatives aren’t as pretty to look at though.

My favourite cosmetic? I have so many! Favourite at the moment is a new Dior lipstick I’ve bought in a creamy-lolly-pink. Mx
