Tontine sent me all new pillows a few weeks ago. I was ecstatic! Now, while some of you may roll your eyes, this was a big deal to me. Nothing beats new pillows! Nothing.

And this is why…

POOR PILLOW HYGIENE IS KEEPING AUSTRALIA AWAKE AT NIGHT

It’s been two years since Tontine put pillow hygiene under the microscope with the launch of their date stamped ‘Fresh Pillows’, reminding Australians that the lifespan of a synthetic pillow is approximately two years. Over time, a pillow can grow a complex ecosystem made up of dead skin cells and the things that feed on them.

But it’s not just the thought of this that can keep you up at night – research suggests that regularly replacing your pillow can also help you get a better night’s sleep.

Only 10% of major grocery buyers (MGBs) report that they sleep like a log at night, and more than 25% say they have trouble sleeping most nights or toss and turn and wake feeling tired.

Research suggests that simply replacing your pillow can make a difference, with two in three (67%) MGBs reporting they derive benefit from sleeping on a new pillow. One in four feel more rested (29%) or sleep more soundly (23%) while 42% say that it smells fresh and clean.

Last week I was also watching The Doctor’s on tv. They said after 10 years your  mattress can become double it’s original weight due to dead skin cells. VOMIT. So, this is why you need new pillows (and a new mattress I bet).

Download more pillow facts here. Some of the statistics will blow your mind!

Tontine is giving 3 lucky winners 2 new pillows.

Leave me a comment here and you’ll be in the draw. This is a game of skill, so tell me how tired you are!

I am also running a STATIONERY giveaway today in a separate post over here, so jump over there and enter that too if you like.

Get your entry in before 5pm (EST) November 23, 2012. Open to Australian residents only. Giveaways are in accordance with my disclosure policy.

GOOD LUCK!

I’m knackered! Selling, moving all our belongings to storage, setting up temporary house with relatives in sardine-can conditions, permanently house hunting, fending off the constant calls from pesky real estate agents! It’s exhausting. I could sleep a month of Sunday’s and still be tired the way I’m feeling.

Sick & tired, to the point of being fed up. Employee’s with their never ending spew of lame excuses, Management barking orders but not actually lifting a finger to help, then the kids and home maintenance all wanting a piece of me when I get home. Tired to me is a gross understatement.

I’m so tired I could sleep on a washing line with the pegs still attached… but funnily enough I’d rather sleep on a bed with some tontine luxury

I would love these pillows. I recently invested in a latex memory foam pillow and it is the most uncomfortable pillow I’ve ever laid my head on. I’ve been trying to get used it but it isn’t happening. These would be a welcome change to help me sleep.

I think I need a new pillow. Not because mine is more than 2 years old, which it is, but because my darling husband likes to punch HIS pillow into weird shapes, lose said pillow, then rip MY pillow out from under my head and repeat. I wake to that falling feeling a lot. More pillows as backup?

I’ve just started my first job ever and I am so very tired even though I was only working for a few hours. I didn’t realise how hard work was going to be, I now know the true value of money. It’s not just a number. Money = being tired, too afraid to spend and bills.

These pillows would come in handy with all my family coming over to sleep during Christmas. They are the best brand.

I have two bubs who still aren’t sleeping through the night so these would ensure that any sleep I do get will be quality sleep

Just completed our latest renovation; 2 bathrooms in 2 weeks whilst running after our 3 young boys (6,5 and 3) plus our energetic dog. Would love a good nights sleep before tackling the next two projects, our laundry and painting the house.
