Tontine sent me all new pillows a few weeks ago. I was ecstatic! Now, while some of you may roll your eyes, this was a big deal to me. Nothing beats new pillows! Nothing.

And this is why…

POOR PILLOW HYGIENE IS KEEPING AUSTRALIA AWAKE AT NIGHT

It’s been two years since Tontine put pillow hygiene under the microscope with the launch of their date stamped ‘Fresh Pillows’, reminding Australians that the lifespan of a synthetic pillow is approximately two years. Over time, a pillow can grow a complex ecosystem made up of dead skin cells and the things that feed on them.

But it’s not just the thought of this that can keep you up at night – research suggests that regularly replacing your pillow can also help you get a better night’s sleep.

Only 10% of major grocery buyers (MGBs) report that they sleep like a log at night, and more than 25% say they have trouble sleeping most nights or toss and turn and wake feeling tired.

Research suggests that simply replacing your pillow can make a difference, with two in three (67%) MGBs reporting they derive benefit from sleeping on a new pillow. One in four feel more rested (29%) or sleep more soundly (23%) while 42% say that it smells fresh and clean.

Last week I was also watching The Doctor’s on tv. They said after 10 years your  mattress can become double it’s original weight due to dead skin cells. VOMIT. So, this is why you need new pillows (and a new mattress I bet).

Download more pillow facts here. Some of the statistics will blow your mind!

Tontine is giving 3 lucky winners 2 new pillows.

Leave me a comment here and you’ll be in the draw. This is a game of skill, so tell me how tired you are!

I am also running a STATIONERY giveaway today in a separate post over here, so jump over there and enter that too if you like.

Get your entry in before 5pm (EST) November 23, 2012. Open to Australian residents only. Giveaways are in accordance with my disclosure policy.

GOOD LUCK!

Katrina this competition couldn’t have come at a better time!
I’ve been through 4 pillows in the past 6 weeks to find a comfortable one and I can’t. It’s exhausting when you are flat out at work all day only to come home and you can’t sleep because your pillow is uncomfortable. – Please help by picking me to win a new Tontine pillow!!!

I couldn’t tell you how old my pillows are..after reading theses facts I am very freaked out. And it might explain why my husband and I wake regulary throughout the night. But the thought of going shopping for a pillow freaks me out..Hard? Soft? Tummy sleeper? Side sleeper? There are too many pillows to choose from!! :-(( I would love a new pillow without all the hassle!! 🙂

Hi Katrina, I’d love to win the tontine pillows. My hubby travels a lot for work therefore Im going solo with the kiddies and getting up to them each night not to mention me waking ‘just because’, is really taking its toll. Hard going to work each day, school pickup, dinner, bath, bed routine and then not sleeping at night. aarrrggghhh. My fingers are crossed that I win! 🙂

My partner uses his pillows to death and it’s GROSS! Winning him a new one would be about the only way I can convince him to replace his current pillows – yes there are two, he uses them so long that they go flat and he needs two of them. Sigh.
