Painting Made Easy

Painting can be a rewarding task that you can easily do yourself without any particular skills. All you need is a good eye, some concentration, and patience. The transformative power of paint can give your space a fresh new look. However, before jumping into painting, it’s important to carefully consider your colour choices.

Take Your Time to Select the Right Colours

Take your time to select the right colours that support the mood you want to create in the room. Think about how you want the space to feel and what you will be using it for.

Consider the Room’s Intended Use and Size

For example, a moody bedroom with dark tones and focused lighting might be a good choice, while a bright and sleek office could be ideal for productivity. Consider the size of the room and its flow, as well as any existing furniture styles or decorations you have.

Test the Paint Colours Before Deciding

Instead of relying on paint chips or swatches, always use sample pots to test the colour on the walls. Test samples on different walls throughout the day to see how they look in different lighting and with the room’s furnishings and flooring.

Other Factors to Consider

Remember, it’s just paint, so don’t be afraid to experiment and have fun with it. If you end up not liking the colour, you can always repaint it. Here are some other factors to consider:

  • Decorating styles may lend themselves to certain paint colours.
  • Traditional features may suit warmer colours, while cooler colours work well with a scandi theme.
  • Undertones from the flooring as well as lighting, shadows and furnishings can affect the colour, so test accordingly to get your decision right throughout your house.

Create a Beautiful Space

By taking your time and thinking things through, you can create a beautiful space that you’ll love spending time in.
