I am always up for a new mantra! Call me the mantra queen. I have lot of sayings, quotes, motivational snippets running around in my brain. So I high-tailed it to the shops to grab the newspaper to read the whole article…

Sometimes things go in one ear and out the other with me but when I hear people talk about de-cluttering to simplify your life my ears prick up. I love this stuff. I can’t get enough of it!

I love the idea of making things simpler and easier. I like to live without clutter. It makes me think clearer. How about you?

THEN I heard someone say nothing changes if nothing changes. Simple, but it totally got me. I have been walking around saying this in my head for weeks. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

So I am continually making the changes, de-cluttering and pushing forward.

Today, I wanted to share with you my thoughts….

Start with the clutter and make the change.

(and read the Sunday Herald’s double page spread – enlarge this picture if you can’t buy it today).

Have a great Monday! X

I am in the midst of decluttering, we have too much ‘stuff’ and have been in our home for 20 years so it is multiplying. A declutter here and a lick of paint there, then once the house is sorted. it’s my brains turn.
    Have a great week Katrina.

I hear you…I feel all stressed and out of control when the crap starts to overwhelm me and I am DESPERATE to declutter my kids’ rooms but will have to wait a few more days till they are back at school so they don’t see what I am getting rid of, lol! Can’t wait!

Your quote also reminds me of one I love…’
if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got’

Off to read that article now 🙂

    xx Karen

I need to read this. We are bursting the seams of our house and it has got me completely overwhelmed! Four little kids have so much that goes with them. I need to simplify (and catch up on my blog homework). Having said that, one of my favourite sayings which also hangs in my hallway, is ‘excuse the mess, my children are busy making memories’.

De-cluttering is an essential part of being organised and efficient – well it is for me. I like to be able to find exactly what I am looking for, and pronto. It doesn’t always happen, and it frustrates me soooo much if I have to waste time looking for something.

I have done the garage this weekend, and next weekend it will be the store-room. Can’t wait.

My lifes work at the moment is a complete lifestyle declutter. LOL. Meaning finances, the house, the garage, people & activities. It was time to simplify. I have given myself 10 weeks to complete declutter the whole shebang x

I am on the same page at the moment. I have just had the biggest declutter I’ve ever had due to being inspired by Be More With Less Blog’s ‘Project 333’. It’s amazing how when you declutter stuff you declutter your mind too. I also attacked my boys rooms. There’s nothing to clean up now. Everything has it’s place. I haven’t had to nag them to clean up anything for 2 weeks. My mantra is, ‘Be More With Less’, thanks to Courtney Carver. I devour her blog every day. A-M xx

I find that the more I declutter, the less I buy. I’m always horrified by the unused ‘stuff’ I get rid of. It makes me more mindful when I shop-do I really need this? Does it serve a purpose? Do I have something similar? Is it exactly right, or only sort of… It saves me a lot of money!

Good lUkcm with the kitchen drawer…thats where I started when we moved in here 4 months ago and it really is a good place to start…along with the boxes of kitchen gadgets that I donated to my sister!

funny – I was reading that this morning! I agree…once you start to declutter its a great feeling! Last month on holiday it was great living out of a suitcase with a handful of clothes- I mixed and matched and was overall less stressed about getting ready!

How funny, I didn’t buy the paper yesterday or read this post until tonight, but started a huge de-clutter today!! Started on mine and my partner’s wardrobe and will move onto the linen press tomorrow. We move house in 6 weeks and the thought of packing all of that extra ‘stuff’ was motivation to get going with it all!
    Hope your feeling better xo

Yep it been said so many times but declutter your environment means declutter your mind..
I also read this blog post this week which has made be think about living life where I am now instead of looking forward or back and never accepting our lives. I think you’d enjoy it..

Eeeeek! Posts about de-cluttering make me squirm. I KNOW I need to do it as I’m a terrible hoarder. And I’ve recently had to sort out a dear Aunt’s belongings…no better motivator to get oneself organised but….just took delivery of a 8 seater table and chairs. ($250, as new condition and daughter no 2 MAY be moving out soon) May need to attend a Clutterer’s Anon club! LOL! x KL
