For me it’s my Dad.

What do you buy a person who has everything and wants nothing? My friend said one year she was so desperate she bought her Dad a laminator machine. She said Β “I’ve got visions….. Laminating photos, winning TAB tickets, locks of hair, newspaper articles, home-made ‘slippery when wet’ signs………..lol!!!” Gee I laughed.

So I asked my brother if he knew if Dad had one? His answer, “Yep, and he laminates everything in sight.” So I’ve knocked that on the head.

Another person suggested a cooking class…. Hmmmm I like the idea, but not sure if he would.

So, c’mon gang, tell me what do you buy your Dad for Christmas??

Little bit of Christmas cheer – Amie and I in 1982.

Today is officially the 1st day of the school holidays. It’s raining of course. More movie watching and playing lego I think.

Plenty of this was done on the weekend – not today though.

PLUS, I’ve finished all of my Christmas shopping! Gee that feels good. Now to just worry about the food.

This photo is of me in the paper on the weekend. It relates to this.

Ok, so that’s what’s been happening around here. I’m coming to visit you all today. I want to see how your Christmas plans are going.

I got my Dad a rugby book and the Red Dog DVD. I found an awesome gift if you Dad likes to read its James May’s book of usefulness. It’s a hilarious take on things men do (all with instructions too). I was going to get this for my Dad but it was the last copy and it was dog-eared and damaged. Who does that?

My dad is impossible to buy for as well. I usually get some combination of alcohol, chocolate, dvd’s, undies – very exciting NOT! But he’s always pretty happy about it πŸ™‚
    Ps well done miss ambassadoress!

My suggestion is pretty boring but always alcohol. My dad likes nice wine so I either buy him a few bottles or buy him a voucher so that he can choose some. Dad’s are very hard to buy for aren’t they?! Ange

Movie passes, DVDs of all those old shows he used to like, like Are You Being Served, and this year, a Mini Plum Pudding and Christmas Fruit Cake, because after Christmas is over he can scoff as much as he likes.

I got my dad an itunes voucher (loves his music) & a whole heap of board games for when the grand kids come to stay. Boring but I know he’ll love both. And my FIL a magazine and scrathies, he is a care free man who wouldn’t care if we spent $1,000 or only $10 on him.

Haha, I have the same problem buying for my Dad but to top it off he owns a hardware store! So anything he could possibly need like the normal handyman tools others would love he has at his fingertips. Wish I could help with the gift ideas but I really need help myself! So far I have some aftershave for him, thats it!

I got my Dad some accessories for his new ipad. Mum & Dad bought it for each other for Christmas. A cover, stand, AV connector etcc…Should keep them busy for a whole year learning to drive it as they’re in their eighties! I normally have Soooo much trouble and resort to books or food.

My dad always says if he can’t eat it, drink it or spend it he doesn’t want it! We usually get his favourite dark chocolate and a bottle of red wine, but since we had kids he gets a calender with the kids pics on each month. He seems to like it πŸ™‚

I have often found that a magazine subscription is something to fall back on for my Dad if he wants nothing and we’re stuck for ideas. Reader’s Digest or a sports mag have always pleased him. This year it’s DVDs and munchies. Boring.

    Hi Katrina,
I think all Dad’s are tricky to buy for. For the last couple of years I’ve gone with a magazine subscription and it’s been a hit. My Dad likes to travel and there are a few decent related ones out there.
    Good luck,
    Beth

Dad’s are totally hard to buy for! My Dad seems to have everything too! But this year I decided I am buying him a good Scanpan set of Kitchen chopping knives. I don’t think he and my Mum have updated their chopping knives since their wedding 25 years ago! lol
    Good luck with it!!

Dads are always hard to buy for…here are a few suggestions but no idea if he’s into any of this stuff (helps if they have a hobby…my dad and FIL are both workaholics)!

    * voucher for a round of golf at either his favourite course or one he hasnt been to before.
    * Showtime voucher – can be used for theatre, concerts etc and valid for 6 months
    * magazine voucher – my dad is into stock market so we have previously got him a subscription to a stock market magazine
    * clothes/shoes
    * restaurant voucher (who doesn’t love food)! might depend on where he lives…

hope this helps πŸ™‚ We had a very busy year socially and this caused me to fall way behind with christmas stuff! next year i vow to be super organised lol

p.s congrats on your new role! hope you have lots of fun with it! xx

My Dad has everything, so this year I got him a worm farm from Bunnings..He loves fishing, so now he will have worms when ever he decides to throw a line in…I’m the only one that thinks it’s a good idea at this stage, but I’m hoping my fabulous Dad thinks it’s a good idea this time next week..
