My little dude’s have been at Grandma and Pop’s house since Sunday. Boy, it’s been quiet here. I’ve loved the peace, but now it’s time for them to come home because I’ve missed them. Here are the pro’s and con’s of giving your kids to someone else for a few days…
Pro’s:
♥ My house has been like a shrine with the only thing to do all day is make my bed
♥ The dishwasher consisted of 2 bowls, 3 coffee mugs, a knife and a plate
♥ You get to eat out for dinner so you don’t have to cook or clean
♥ I didn’t turn the iron on once
♥ I did half a load of washing
♥ I used 200ml of milk
♥ I showered and went to the toilet in silence
♥ My house was like a Library and no one spoke to me for hours on end
Sounds pretty luxurious hey?! Quite a few pro’s there I am sensing…
Now for the Con’s:
♥ Nobody called me “sweet Mummy” or said “I love you”
♥ I had no one to talk to about the naughty and lazy chickens who got up to more strange acts
♥ Nobody farted and burped and no giggles were heard (is this a pro or a con?)
♥ Ok, now I can’t think of any more con’s… just pretend there are heaps more ok?
Over the weekend, Jodie shared this link with us: 25 rules for Mothers with Sons. I really loved this. I read every single one aloud to Andrew. I could read it over and over again. If you’ve got boys, you must read.
Have a great day! X

When my boys were away at their grandparents’ house, I always loved it for the first couple of days and marvelled at how quiet it was around here. By day 3, I was missing them and complaining that the house was too quiet.
I did enjoy having the house stay clean and tidy though. 🙂

Lol @ so few cons 🙂 My mum called yesterday and said she’ll take my boys for a few days – how good is that?! Except she’s not taking my youngest – said I was pushing my luck there lol.
Love, love, love that list if rules for mums of boys – by the end I was crying <3

It’s always a mixed blessing isn’t it when the kids are away. Thank you for yesterdays post. I haven’t had much time to fiddle with the blog but I will get onto it. You are very kind. thanks Deb

Oh, it’s the empty bedrooms when you go to bed at night that gets me every time! I always go in and give them a kiss before I go to bed at night and when I walk past those empty bedrooms …. I feel all teary thinking about it.

I love it. I can never believe how clean my house stays when the boys are at Nanna’s. But I get all fidgety at night when I want them tucked in their beds right here with us.
Its a weird cycle.
Wake up delighted the house is still clean & ponder what I will do for the day.
Go to bed sad & anxious & wanting to kiss them goodnight.
Repeat, Lather, Rinse.

Lucky you for having some time to yourself! We all need a bit of that!

I haven’t had the luxury of having no kids at home but I had 5 less kids at home, leaving me with two and that was ok… but I sure missed the other 5!!

I can so relate Katrina! I have 3 girls ( Jess is 9, and Mia & Luca are about to turn 7), so the dynamics may be slightly different to you and your boys. But I cherish any time the hubby and I get child-free. If I’m away from the kids for too long though, I miss them terribly. Then once we’re back together again, I’m longing for that next quiet moment! xxx
