With $10,000 in cash from Ford, a $10,000 Hafele wardrobe upgrade, and a bonus $10,000 Gucci dress and earrings for styling at stake, it’s no wonder the Blockheads are raising the stakes for the upcoming bedroom challenge.

From whimsical kids’ retreats to a “sexy” guest room, the emergence of a new “Holiday Resort” style, and more, the judges were thoroughly impressed.

But with such high standards and the added incentive of a bonus-point Penguin, the question remains: which team has done enough to secure the win?

Kristian and Mimi (First Place – 28/30)

Kristian and Mimi’s kids’ room featured a playful yet sophisticated design, complete with a soft cloud-shaped bedhead illuminated by LED lighting and a Grafico rainbow overhead. Marty called it “incredibly camera-friendly,” while Darren praised it as the “idea of the day.” Marty also predicted that the Lunar Bed Head by Create Estate would be a huge hit, saying it would “break the internet” and likely become a best-seller at The Block Shop. Shaynna admired the soft colour palette and the blend of Art Deco and 1950s influences, which gave the room a coastal vibe. Despite minor issues with the trundle beds and high-hung artwork, the judges all agreed the room exuded a sense of fun.

Kylie and Brad (Second Place – 27.5/30)

It seemed that Kylie and Brad took the judges’ advice to heart. Shaynna led the praise, noting the “perfect” combination of black and white elements, the well-chosen Kinsman wardrobes with soft leather handles, the stunning Briar Ivory Jute and Wool Rug, and the practical floorboards. Darren remarked that the room required only a slight shift in approach, resulting in a space that, while still featuring black, now felt soft, light, and bright. Marty also complimented the Myer Triple Bunk bed, the Grafico wallpaper, and the Bohteak Hapuna Hanging chair, which he felt captured the essence of Phillip Island. With the addition of ideal artworks and a stylish Porta Timber feature, the room received universal acclaim. The judges agreed that with just one more touch, the room could have clinched the win.

Courtney and Grant (Third Place – 27/30)

Marty was immediately captivated by the curves in House 2, exclaiming, “It’s incredible!” as he entered the room, while Darren said, “My heart just jumped out of my chest!” Shaynna was impressed by the details, including the Kinsman wardrobes, Bailey Dining Chair, and Solstice Cairo bedsides. However, she wasn’t entirely convinced. She noted that the pendants were overly large and seemed out of place, and the desk area had an inaccessible power point. Marty focused on the curved skirting boards and the meticulous finishing, asserting that the room highlighted why he believed Courtney and Grant were strong contenders to win The Block. “This house is an auctioneer’s dream!” he declared.

Ricky and Haydn (Fourth Place – 26.5/30)

After a tough week prior, Ricky and Haydn needed a boost, and they certainly received one from the judges. They praised everything from the Arlo bed and matching bedside to the stylish off-centre feature wall, the contemporary P50 shadow line around the door and skirting boards, and the Amanda Hinkelmann artwork. The room was noted for its harmonious use of textures, including boucle, linen, carpet, and sheers, all contributing to a high-standard finish. Darren enthusiastically declared, “I love it. I love it. I LOVE it a lot!” while Scotty exclaimed, “You crushed it!” The only critique was the wardrobe laminate, with both Marty and Shaynna favouring a different look. Despite this, the judges were impressed with the new energy, builder, and style—Scotty dubbed it a “Holiday Resort” vibe—proving that the boys are back on track.

Jessie and Paige (Fifth Place)

Jessie and Paige’s room, designed to be versatile for both kids and adults—with the potential to fit a King bed—initially impressed the judges. The space featured a Kave Home Boucle chair, twin Velux skylights, a Rattan pendant, and Iconiko artwork. Darren noted it was “so on trend” and complemented the rest of the house. However, closer inspection revealed several issues, including unfinished paintwork, raw plaster in the step-in wardrobe, a pink scalloped-edge desk that was too low for comfortable use, and incomplete caulking. The judges felt the room was a victim of time constraints. While a few extra days could address these issues, the room, as presented, fell short of winning.
