After two intense months, it’s finally time for The Block contestants to finish their interior of their homes – but it’s not going to be a simple task.

With both a final bedroom and the laundry space to tackle, they’ll be jumping between serene retreats and practical work areas… and it quickly proved a tough double.

But while some struggled, others rose to the challenge!

So, who delivered the best version and won $10,000? And who left the judges feeling like they were looking at a lost opportunity?

Courtney and Grant (First place)

Entering through the barn doors, the judges were impressed with the space, which felt like a self-contained apartment within house 2. The well-designed joinery, stylish walnut bedside tables, and art pieces created a cohesive and elegant atmosphere. From the raked curtains to the linen wallpaper, the king-size bed, and the adjacent lounge area that could accommodate two additional guests, the judges saw it as a luxurious second master wing that added significant value to the home. The praise continued into the laundry, where the large washer and dryer setup, along with ample cabinetry, was deemed ideal for handling the needs of a full household.

Ricky and Haydn (Second place)

Bunks and a sofa bed? That means Ricky and Haydn’s home can now accommodate 12 people – a major advantage, according to the judges. With stylish wallpaper, built-in wardrobes, and flowing curtains, they created a new living space ideal for a teen wing, especially with a games room right next door. The judges were already impressed, but the laundry truly stood out. “Endless storage, plenty of bench space, and top-notch appliances,” they said. “With so many kids staying over, this laundry is exactly what you need!” The addition of a powder room with a sleek pedestal basin led Darren to call this the work of “Ricky and Haydn 2.0,” praising every detail.

Kylie and Brad (Third place)

With bold striped wallpaper, well-chosen wall sconces, and dark cabinetry in Kylie and Brad’s signature style, the judges appreciated the private bedroom in house 4, especially the art, rug, and dressing bench. However, they were less impressed with the room’s layout. “A bedroom needs to feel cosy and inviting,” Marty remarked, “but this one misses the mark.” He felt the bed was placed too close to the door and didn’t take advantage of the potential view. Shaynna also noted the lack of curtains, which contributed to an echo in the room. Moving into the laundry, though, the judges were impressed. “Subtle and discreet,” Darren said, admiring the cabinetry that concealed high-end appliances and thoughtful design elements, creating a highly functional yet understated space.

Kristian and Mimi (Fourth place)

With a vibrant banana-toned palette, rattan furniture, and plenty of storage, Mimi and Kristian created a beautiful bedroom, according to the judges. But was a bedroom necessary at all? “It’s gorgeous,” Shaynna said, admiring the stunning artworks, cabinetry, and stylish armchair, “but is it the right choice?” Marty pointed out that the original plans called for a sitting room, which might have been more suitable for the home. However, the laundry left a strong impression. “I didn’t even know I wanted green laundry appliances until today,” Darren remarked, admiring the washer and dryer combo. With abundant storage—essential for a space near the pool—well-executed joinery, and stylish tiles, Marty declared it the standout laundry of the day, despite the missing caulking.

Maddy and Charlotte (Fifth place)

The judges were impressed with the layout and inspired by the plan when they arrived at house 1, but it seemed the project had overwhelmed sisters Maddy and Charlotte, leaving the bedroom unfinished. The idea of adding four extra beds caught Darren’s eye, who praised the “outstanding craftsmanship” of the bed. However, despite the beautiful cabinetry and artwork, Marty and Shaynna felt the space lacked the luxury needed to elevate the home. Moving to the laundry, the judges approved of the mudroom access and stylish French-patterned tiles, but noted that the appliances were still boxed up. Without the washer, dryer, or cabinet in place, they couldn’t fully assess the laundry’s functionality—a rare miss for the sisters.
