Spray your own flat black bathroom hooks

Last year I updated my bathroom vanity taps to black ones from MEIR. I love them, but I wanted to also change that towel ring there on the left (I have them in both bathrooms). I know this is a crappy photo but I didn’t get a chance to take a proper before. Anyway, I searched high and low for a couple of affordable black hooks I could use to replace the rings, and came up with nothing. I really didn’t want to pay $40+ for a little black hook.

So, of course, I had a brainwave that I could buy a $9 chrome one from Bunnings and use some flat black Rust-oleum spray to make up my own.

And…. about an hour later I had new black hooks in my bathrooms! The rings just screwed off easily and I replaced them with the hooks. Such a small effort and a great result.

I sprayed another too which I want to add near my shower for an additional towel. I’ll get that job today.

I’ve seen on Pinterest where people have sprayed their entire bathroom accessories themselves. Like taps and towel holders. Wondering if any has done that? And how to they wear?

I sprayed some plastic ones and had my husband cut out round mdf discs that I attached to front so looked like those expensive round hooks!

I love rustoleum paint from bunnings I’ve sprayed timber, cane and iron, it’s the bees knees and now I see it comes in a couple of chalk paints too, can’t wait to try those.
