Thanks to Optus for today’s blog post.
Last weekend you might have seen on Instagram that I had a night away my bestie (and no children!). I really needed that little overnight trip away. Optus asked me a few weeks ago to think about something I would enjoy and say yes to? After lots of thinking and pondering I decided that something I rarely do is take a night for myself. I’ve had trips away before, but not one where I truly get to relax. My girlfriend and I counted back and it has been 5 years since her and I went away together! WOW, that’s a long time, and we’ve been friends for many many years.
I live in a house full of the male species. There is rarely anything girly about my lifestyle. My boys do A LOT of sport if you didn’t already know that (my Instagram probably gives that away haha!). I spend my days consumed by football and more football and soon we’ll be switching to cricket.
So when Optus suggested I say YES to something I knew I had to pick an activity that I would enjoy without my male side-kicks….
I hadn’t been to Bowral since I was a teenager and it’s a beautiful part of NSW so I was excited to be heading there for the weekend. The real estate in Bowral is spectacular and I had my eye on a few homewares shops to look at while I was there. The drive was pretty easy (it was about 3 and half hours). Just outside Bowral is a magnificent hotel and spa – Milton Park. I was so excited to be able to spend some time there.
I was also excited about visiting their homewares stores as I had seen/heard great things and I always have my interior design radar on.
First stop were the markets in Bowral. What a gorgeous day! We wandered and stocked up on sauces and salad dressing (anyone else do that when they are away?).
The drive up to the Hotel was so pretty. This was the dead of winter though so I can only imagine how spectacular the grounds would be in spring time.
The room was very French/English I would say. What a treat!
The vines would be in full bloom in spring. Pretty.
I was in awe of the arches, windows, statues. Milton Park is a grand mansion, built at the turn of the twentieth century with an eclectic mixture of both French & Federation detailing.
After a quick lay on the bed, a glass of champagne and a slice of cake, we headed up to the spa for a massage and quiet time. How relaxing!
I did a quick check-in with the boys on Facetime thank to Optus. I bossed them around a bit – don’t think they missed me at all! Ha!
Of course I had to hit the shops! The homewares shops were calling and I couldn’t help picking up a few new treats. Oh my, so many lovely things! We don’t have anything as fabulous as this in Wagga. It was nice to be able to spend time leisurely looking at the things I love.
We took a wonderful little drive around Bowral. It’s so green and the houses were large! This one above was my favourite – weatherboard of course 🙂
Then it was time to head home (sadly, to the washing and cleaning). When was the last time you took some time out for yourself? When was the last time you decided to just say YES and do something away from your normal daily routine? I highly recommend you do. Going away and then coming home makes me feel refreshed and ready to tackle the normal every day tasks again.
Have a great day. ♥ KC.

I think this is a healthy & necessary thing to do as a Mother! It is NOT selfish to need to get away and have time to yourself ☺️
