Hi there! Thanks for stopping by today. We’ve seen lots of plywood popping up in the interior design world lately and I was wondering what you all thought about it? Is it a yes or no for you? I’m personally on the fence, so I need your help to decide!
Plywood is cost effective, it’s easy to get your hands on it and it does have a nice swirling pattern. You can use it on floors, walls or make furniture with it. It’s also easy to paint (or even whitewash).
I’ve seen it in bedrooms more often as a feature bedhead. It adds a level of warmth and texture and can be easily propped up behind the bed.
Here are some photos to help you (and me!) decide…

A piece of plywood from the hardware store all ready to go for a bedhead would set you back about $50. If you want larger pieces, or different sizes they are available too – you just need to get it cut. I also think it would look good in a kids bedroom.
If you already love it let me know! If you’re thinking about it, I’d love to know what you might do with it?

So cheap looking…..

No, looks like an unfinished project.

YES!! Love plywood, I’ve already used some as a feature back on a bookcase, and intending to do similar on an antique duchess I have in the workshop 🙂
I wouldnt mind converting the sliding wardrobe doors in the bedrooms with feature ply oiled or waxed
Teresa
Not a fan. Looks unfinished

Love it, looks fresh and warm and I’m not bothered by the ‘unfinished’ look (but I’m from Northern Europe and quite a fan of minimal/industrial decoration).

I like plywood in some formats. Large sheets just plonked as a bedhead doesn’t excite me, but I do really like the look of the edges as seen on your shelf picture. I am currently owner building our renovation and plan to use high quality Birch plywood for my cabinetry. It can look really good. Check this out: (I hope the link is acceptable).

Cost effective if owner built, much longer lasting than the chipboard garbage that is most often used in kitchen carcasses and looks great.
