My weekend in Sydney: The Harbour, Cricket, Michael Clarke & The Block All Stars

Morning! How are you all for a Monday? My kids have a week and a half left of school, so I’ll be frantically trying to get things done so I can take a break. We’ll be heading off to the beach for Christmas and New Year this year. I can’t wait!

So, what did you get up to on the weekend? I went to Sydney. We don’t head north very often. Normally we head to Melbourne if we’re going to the city, but we were invited to the cricket on the weekend and my kids were jumping up and down, so we just had to go!

It’s about a 5 hour drive in to the city so we set off at 7am. It was such a gorgeous day. Husband was driving, so I instagrammed the whole trip (as you do)…

We headed straight to Circular Quay. The kids hadn’t been there before, so we decided to jump on the Manly Ferry so they could see the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House in all it’s glory.

Ice-creams were had at the Manly Wharf and a quick play in the water…

Then it was time to head to the SCG for the Big Bash League. Sydney 6’s and Sydney Thunder were playing. Go Thunder! I like cricket, and this Big Bash stuff is fun and exciting. It’s fast, colourful, there’s music playing and the wickets light up if they’ve been hit. The atmosphere was electric. Thanks Cricket Australia for having us…

Now, looky here! LOOK who walked in! I almost spat out my drink. We were told to bring something if we wanted it signed “just in case a guest turned up”. I was initially shattered that Michael Clarke wouldn’t be playing that night because of injury, but that was fixed when I turned around and he was standing in front of me! He was such a nice guy. My 10 year old couldn’t stop finding things for him to sign! My husband told me to “stop staring“. Hehe. Michael kept asking me for my texta so he could sign stuff for people… Ahhh.

Of course, I needed to get in that photo! I nearly licked his face. Well that was fun. Thanks Michael.

… And then, I looked at my phone and looky who is now following me on Twitter?? Better not scare him off with pathetic and ranty tweets 😉

We’ll be following Sydney Thunder this year and hopefully we’ll catch another game soon. I had such a great time.

The next morning, we headed to Bondi where I caught up with The Block’s All Stars. I went through the houses, jumped on camera (which probably won’t be used!), but it was fun anyway… I might write about my visit there in the next post. There’s always lots to write about when it comes to The Block!

How was your weekend?

Catch you tomorrow.

Our weekend was really busy but we still managed to spend a few hours with our favourite baby boy who is at that ‘almost crawling’ stage. We love being grandparents, it’s so much easier than being parents!
I’m not into sport at all but cricket is different because growing up with 3 boys, it was a choice between playing cricket or playing cricket (my sister and I weren’t allowed to play rugby), so I actually understand a fair bit about the game. And to meet Michael Clark, well, WOW! is all I can say. He is so gorgeous.
Speaking of gorgeous, you’ve got 3 fine looking boys yourself. xx

I nearly licked his face, bahahaha.
Spunk that he is. My boys are Cricket MAD. Well 2 of them are abnormally obsessed, the other 2 just love it.
That looks like the perfect weekend to spend with your boys.
Yes, me two on the week and half of school then off to the beach. Oh the stuff I need to pack inrto those few days. Scary.
Thanks again love for the opportunity to win the KikkiK & Coles vouchers. I am beyond thrilled. Made my year actually.
( must of been the shredding of the Betty Crocker boxes that jagged it for me, true story )

Love to you & yours, Niki x
