My children cannot stop eating {Vlog}

Please save me from this mess! You are welcome to take my precious darlings for a week (or more, depending on how I feel).  I know this is going to get worse. You don't need to tell me that. They're growing and growing...  I just can't afford them. Sell one to feed the others?  …

I would never have believed you if you’d told me 10 years ago how much they eat. We’re at the “I’ll have a steak too thanks Mum” stage. Ummmm lucky I rarely eat red-meat or we’d never afford it.

What I want is for you to tell me I’m not alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m still working on designing my own menu-plans that I spoke about here. 🙂

Katrina, I have bad news for you, it definitely doesn’t get better. My son – now 18 for the past 12 months has become a gym junkie, not only am I paying for the gym weekly, lunches just aren’t sanga’s anymore, has to be chicken breasts or steak with vegetable or salad, then he eats again at 5pm and then has the family meal for dinner as well, eating more on his plate than my husband. I have 2 girls also, and by far Jake is the most vain about his appearance. I wish you well having 3 boys! He has just finished school so I can’t wait for him to get a job, I feel that I am only working full time to feed him!

I know how you feel, I have 5 boys! Thankfully 3 are under 5 so still don’t eat too much. We are fortunate enough to have a small farm so we can grow our own fruit, vegies & meat eventually….it’s still a work in progress! But hoping to be pretty much self sufficient in 5 years time :)My only suggestion is home bake (I have a baking day once a week), add red beans (etc) to mince dishes, buy roasts, it’s cheaper per kg than steaks etc and you can use leftovers for sandwiches, bulk meals up with vegies etc. My grocery bill is about $400 a fortnight (with nappies & formula), hoewever I do have a husband that works 2 weeks on 2 off so is away those 2 weeks on, which helps with grocery costs! Good luck! 3 sleeps to go till school goes back! Yay!

I have a 13 year old daughter and 7 year old son – and I can bearly keep up with them and their need for food! My daughter is great and often makes up some cupcakes or brownies to satisfy her and her brothers snacking appetite!
However my best friend has 3 sons, 16, 14 and 7….. and boy o boy! I don’t know how she does it… well actually she had a small meltdown the other day similar to yours! However her boys do work at a local small supermarket, which gives them the cash to spend on games, magazines and outings with friends, this helps to free up the family income to buy more food!!
Good luck and I can tell you we are all LOOKING forward to the kids going back to school!!!!!!!!

Oh my you poor thing you have 3 boys! I have a 7.5 year old who recently ordered a adults hamburger & chips meal at a restaurant and then chowed down on it! He has hollow legs too. It’s so hard to fill them up because you don’t want them eating rubbish all the tine but what else fills them up? Good luck Nardia with 5! I am not a baker either, it bores me and I’m not good at it 🙁 good luck.

I am telling you…. You are not alone!

I love the look on the oldies faces when I do the groceries!
You hear “Oh, love is that all for one family???”

My three boys most definitely have hollow legs and those legs only get longer as they get older!

But, I’m a bit like you, I need to learn how to bake! Well! lol It would save us a fortune.

    Have a great day.

    Lol you are a classic.
I have Gaby who is 14 jack 12 and James 9.
And YES I am hearing you. I have been told by other who have older teenagers that groceries can get to $500 a week when everyone is eating like adults at dinner. My boys love steak too but I do a lot of stirfrys with rice as that fills them up. I also buy loads of milk and cheap ice cream and I fill them up with milk shakes after dinner as most of the time they are still hungry after I have just feed them ( obviously not enough) so I find that
the milkshake helps fill that growing boy

Last time my mum came to stay with the kids while we went away i came back to find she had brough 2 small, shallow frypans to use to cook pancakes(obviously not a fan of my one frypan for everything) which I thought was crazy but is saying that I now Love them! Pancakes are so quick, cheap easy and filling and best of all the frypans fit so easy in the dishwasher and leaves my big one free for cooking tea. Havnt tried the really cheap mixes in the packets from coles but maybe worth a try along with $1 bread for making toast for moring tea, buying a popcorn maker, Aldi pies, sausage rolls and dims sims etc for lunch? My 10yr old godson is up to 8 weetbix for breakfast and he is the eldest of 4 so I hear his mother talk often of hollow legs! Worm tablet time? lol

    KC, I have 4 boys, aged 16,13,9 & 6 this year.
Man oh man, don’t even get me started.
So I am feeding basically 5 men on a daily basis.
Crazy amounts of food get bought & consumed in this house.
I truly think as they all get older & say I have a 20 year old, along with 17, 13 & 10, I reckon I will have to work to pay the food bill alone. I reckon $500 a week would sound about right, as another poster mentioned. Man they just eat ALL day & stay healthy & gorgeous, if I ate half the food they did I would be the side of a house.
Hang in there. I am not much of a baker either, ha, Niki

I only had one son Katrina and he kept me on my toes. Especially when he was in training year round with sport and needed to be constantly fed.
No joke… get baking baking baking. Only way to fill the bottomless pit and make pasta your new best friend!
Even if you lash out and purchase a beaut mix master that makes baking enjoyable and easy. Plus muffins are dead easy and the boys can help.

After several viewings, the message my 3 y.o. daughter got from this was “YO!”. Thanks Katrina! For the record, she eats constantly when she’s at home and it drives me crazy so I can’t even imagine your pain with three boys. Xo

Oh I so hear you! I am saying the same thing… my boys are eating me out of house and home…. and people are telling me the same things… so I have started more baking. I hate it too…. but I do it. I buy just the healthy basic 5 food group things at the shops….plus a few varieties of crackers (vitawheats, corn thins)…and then fill them with fruit, homemade milkshakes, pasta after school, pancakes, muffins and seriously basic home baked stuff for school lunches (they think anything I bake is unreal, surprisingly)….. oh and bread… fill em up on bread… it’s cheap… get the $1 loaves at the store. They don’t drink anything other than water and milk… no juice, no soft drinks… so we’re not wasting dollars on stuff that you drink. It’s gonna get worse pet. My 14 year old eats every 2 hours… and he’s as lean as lean can be… they burn it up in growth! Takes a lot of calories to grow a man! A-M xx

I’ve got an 18-yr-old son and a 16-yr-old son, so I know all about the food problem! (I have 2 brothers, so I knew it was coming.) When they have mates over, it’s like a plague of locusts descended on my kitchen. I was never fond of baking either, until I got a KitchenAid. Makes it so easy and kind of fun. I also try to shop by reading the grocery catalogues, and stock up on sale stuff when I can. It all helps.
