Recently I was sent 2 x PLAY:1 speakers by Sonos to review. We are huge lovers of music in our home and we’ve always got something playing. I was THAT excited when these little speakers turned up on my door step. I could not wait to get them up and going. I love my tech goodies so this was right up my alley. They are good looking and a synch to set-up.

These compact wireless speakers are controlled through an app (called SONOS) on your phone. Stream your entire music library, popular music services, and internet radio. We’ve been using SoundCloud to stream music. SoundCloud is free. My big boy has his own account (he does Will Sparks and I do Beyonce!) so using the SONOS app we can just flick between accounts as we like.

You can have one speaker in one room and the other somewhere else – which is what we’ve been doing. My kids take one to their room and we leave another in the kitchen. This way, wherever we are in the house we can hear the music. They sync perfectly.

Here’s a little taste…

My home office is in the middle of the house so I’ve also been putting them side-by-side in here so we can really hear the tunes pumping (they are powerful and has perfect sound!).

You can also use the Ethernet port on the back of your PLAY:1 to bring standard Internet connectivity to your set-top box, DVR, PC, game console or network hard drive. Clever!

They just need a power source and the app and you’re off. The volume is controlled via your phone too. You can turn one down and one up – whatever suits.

I really do recommend these as a home music system. It’s a very clever little speaker too. If you want to read more about the specifics and where to get them then pop here.

Disclaimer: I was gifted these speakers and was not obligated to write about them if I didn’t like them, but there you go – I LOVE them!

They sound great, I will be looking into these. I love that they don’t look too cumbersome either! 🙂

I have fully embraced Sonos and even use them for Home Theater. Those PLAY:1s are a great little speaker. Nice review.
