I used to, and I designed it that way, in our one-bedroom inner-city worker's cottage.

Except I think the example above isn't great, looks a bit silly IMO. I had mine plumbed into a cupboard, not unlike a pantry, hidden & lovely.

I think it's a great spacesaver, an'd not unusual if you've lived in Europe. As for dirty clothes, I had a hamper in the bathroom, again hidden in a cupboard.

    Neat, sweet, petite.

Laundry in the kitchen was the only thing I knew before moving from the UK to Aus. I wouldn't have it there if there is space elsewhere. Dirty, wet, muddy rugby kit in my kitchen is so not a good memory!

Hi Katrina, we just did a reno with a eurolaundry with stackable washer and dryer behind full length doors. Works really well but you need to be supertidy and keep the washing up to date.

Only if space was an issue but hey space is an issue in the apartment I live in… and they found room to stick it in a cupboard. A-M xx

I would do it if space was a big issue. I think it looks odd in this kitchen. I might stack my dishes in it! x

Coming to Oz from the UK any Brit will know it's the norm. A well concealed front loader behind an integrated cupboard front will reduce noise and visitors won't even know your laundry room is your kitchen. Seeing from the comments above we can all do with a little extra space, ironic for such a great country. Yet even with the extra space you will always occupy it and then claim to need more space. I had that problem and wanted to capital improve my property, so in the laundry we built a shower, removed the ugly laundry sink, put in a pretty high set wash basis, kept the front loader under the wash basin counter and if things need a soak – use a bucket. Yes but I would prefer it behind a cupboard in the bathroom:)

My washing machine is in the kitchen. Why not? I haven't got room/plumbing to put it anywhere else! My dirty clothes stay in the basket next to the machine, although living alone I tend to just do it all in one go and therefore put the empty basket back upstairs in my room.

You can see a picture of it (and me looking like a weirdo) here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=786493&l=9f4181661e&id=516014246

I don't think it looks too bad….. does it?!
