But today I am discussing mirror or pressed metal??

I’ve done both – pressed metal in the last house we built (I painted mine white) and a mirror one in my “The Block” house.

This year on The Block there has been both. Dale and Sophie did pressed metal and the brothers did the mirror…

Which one do you like?

I’m definitely doing mirror in my new house. Love, love, love! 🙂

Pressed metal in white definitely! Mirror looks great but I’m thinking too much to keep it clean and smear free??!

I loved Dale and Sophie’s pressed metal…. and I loved your white version. You’ve now got me heading towards pressed metal for my place..as I have never done it before… so I’m no use to you here today, am I? I think you’ll rock the mirror look. You already have. A-M xx

Don’t k ow if I’d like seeing myself that often with the mirror splashback 😀 although I have a glass one and that’s almost as bad lol. Love the smooth surface of mirror/glass and think that’s more practical than pressed metal, particularly behind stovetop. I’m usually a sucker for all things ‘old’/traditional but the pressed metal hasn’t really grabbed me – maybe I’m yet to see a design I absolutely love! LOVE Sophie and Dale’s sense of style but preferred the brothers’ kitchen – probably because I’m a bigger sucker for timber and that ceiling was divine 🙂

I have loved the mirror splashback for a few years now. We are about to make a few minor changes in our kitchen and one of them is the splash back. I can’t decide whether to get the tinted mirror or the normal one. Which did you use in your kitchen on the block and which did Sophie and Dale use?
        Thanks

Yeah, not sure about mirror splash backs. Apart from the cleaning involved, I think that the fact of looking at myself, right around my stomach region while I’m cooking would be a big turn off!

Mind you, it could help with the diet factor 😉

We’re having pressed metal powdercoated RED in our kitchen. I love the mirror idea but think it would be tricky to keep clean.

I LOVE the kitchen in your old house. So jealous it looks amazing. I love the mirror look too, it’s gorgeous. We’re on the search for a kitchen splash back for our reno, but it’s difficult since there is a big awkward shaped window right above the bench. 🙁 You have great taste!

Not a fan of the mirrored splashback. Looks fab in the styled pictures but in real life I think it would be constantly smeary and would just reflect back all the clutter that is on the bench making it look twice as messy.

I like the white pressed metal best of all. The metal colour I think looks lovely but I thought it made Sophie and Dale’s kitchen look really dark.

Hi Katrina, I have loved pressed metal for years and I loved Sophie and Dales Kitchen. I just couldn’t imagine trying to keep a mirror splashback clean all the time, I think I would really hate it after a while, whilst it looks amazing…..

Gosh I hate the cleaning of splashbacks…I think a mirror would do my head in…but as a good friend of mine said (who designs kitchens) ‘It doesn’t matter what the splashback is, it’s all the same cleaning…’ I love the pressed metal. Soooo doing that next time!!!!!! 🙂

I love pressed metal, but it must be white. I love that bench on the last one, your kitchens (the block and home) could be out of the pages of Belle. Have a lovely day Katrina.x

You know, I can’t help but stare at the pressed metal and think that it’d be a bitch to clean. When you have a minestrone or a tomato sauce bubbling away (am I the only one who ends up getting it on the splashback?), it’d be horrible to try to clean around all of those pretty details.

At least with a smooth edge, it’d take a quick wipe.

We did mirror in our new build 12 months ago and apart from it being a bit of a pest to continually clean i still love it and so does everyone who sees it!

I love the last one which surprises me (normally I am very traditional and would go with the pressed tin. Maybe it depends on whether you need to make the room look bigger, as then I would have the mirror. I like how the mirror reflects on to the garden. Hmm could be a great diet help (not that you need it) – I loved that comment!
