Hi! Thanks for all the kitchen love during the week! I am really happy with it, so I’m glad you liked it.

Well, today I am flat out in house-mode. I’m just about to head over there for the day to paint the eaves. Oh the glamour! But it’s looking so good that I am happy to hang out there 🙂

The light above will be my kitchen pendants. I can’t wait! They are coming from A-M at Cape Cod Designs, but they won’t be here for a while, so I am happy to wait.

I think this one above will be my entry light. Industrial, but still chic and neat. What do you think?

Oh, and my husband made me one of these last week {the picture below is from Pinterest – I used it as inspiration}….

See… here is a little look at it below…

I’m just waiting for the glass to be cut for mine 🙂 I’ll show you it properly when we move.

And just a quick question: have you ever bought plantation shutters online before? I think I’m going to do it! I’ve been researching like crazy and there are some good companies out there with great prices. Just wondering if you could recommend any?

Oh, and my builder said yesterday he COULD do the 3 week timeline. This means that in 3 weeks I’ll be moving in…. OMG!

Ohhh the pendant lights are gorgeous. Lucky you.

I have timber plantation shutters on our bungalow windows …. I was too scared to order them online but I am a big wuss. Yes, you can get some fantastic prices online though….good luck! Looking forward to seeing your house all finished. Looks amazing so far.

I ordered them locally on my last house and this time I thought I might research a little more and the price difference is HUGE! I sorta figured that because my husband knows how to use a drill, then maybe I could get them online 🙂

I am sure you will find them and it helps to have a handy husband (Mine, not so handy!!)….you managed to renovated an entire house whilst the nation was watching on a budget…so I am sure you will find the blinds for a bargain easily!

Yep. I ordered them for my last house online. They were so easy (for hubby) to install. I will order them again when our house is built. We got ours from Shutters Online. Neil was very helpful. Your house is coming along nicely…. Bet you can’t wait to move in!

WOW Katrina ! 3 weeks and you are in – sooo exciting !!
I love the lights, I especially love the black entry light – very cool !
Looking forward to seeing the finished coffee table – the Pinterest one looks great – did you sand back the timber ? I’m inspired !! 🙂

No, we didn’t sand them – left them as is 🙂 It was a rustic looking pallet to start with.

Yay for the three week timeline. LOVE the kitchen pendant you’ve chosen… may even have to find a spot for that one at our place I love it so much 🙂 And your pallet coffee table is going to be awesome! Happy painting! x

Looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see finished results.
Re shutters online is fine if your windows are “square” both in length and width and in “face” ie there’s no bowing in the timber reveal….that’s where the problems usually are with older windows that aren’t square…shouldn’t be an issue with yours though:)
Only word of warning DON’T use Shutters Australia – made in China and crap quality (speaking from bitter experience).
    Good luck you trailblazer:))

That’s so funny .. I have my husband lined up to make the SAME coffee table ;P

I am still searching for my pendants .. I found some that won’t be in stock until May, and we’ll be probably back in the house in April, and I don’t want to wait.. meanwhile nothing else is matching up .. le sigh .. x

I am way too paranoid to order online as three of our windows are arched AND massive, which means a lot could go wrong, and I am not prepared to take the risk 🙁

What I am unhappy about is the warranty even the top of the range suppliers offer, here in Adelaide – 5 years!!! Thousands of dollars per window and the best they can do is 5 years? Ugggggh!!!

Look forward to hearing what you decide.

Can’t wait to see a full photo shoot of the finished house. It’s lovely. I once saved a client $12,000 (yes, that is twelve thousand) on her window treatments just by looking around and not going with the big named locals. Please let us know if you do go ahead with the shutters and are happy with the result, who you’d recommend. I’d like to do shutters one day.

Hi Katrina, I love seeing the progress on your new home, it’s coming together beautifully. For DIY shutters I used http://www.shutterkits.com.au – they are manufactured in QLD using American & Candadian timber. They are solid wood, not at all like the cheap vinyl ones. I went for the raw cedar which I oiled after assembly, as they look great in my 70’s house…but they also do pre-painted kits. I found the first kit took a little longer, but once you get the hang of it each one took about 20-30 mins to assemble. Good luck with your choice!!
