Being on tv hasn’t been easy. I am finding it a real rollercoaster of emotions…almost as intense as when I was on The Block.
What stresses me the most is the ‘interpretation’.
Interpretation of what is chosen to be shown on tv, and the interpretation from the viewers.
I have to remind myself every day that “it’s JUST a tv show, it’s JUST a game”.
To say I have been disappointed with some of the interpretation is an understatement. How I deal with this is difficult. The questions and judgements made by other people is so annoying and frustrating. I am happy to answer all of your questions and am always ready to set the record straight.
Because this is my blog and my journey, I think I can say whatever I want to say hey?
Let’s list a few things…
1. NO, we did not shop everyday. This year there were no furniture sponsors so finding items from ALL over Melbourne took a long time. Amie and I shopped the same as everyone else. In the beginning we shopped together, but got smarter and usually split up.
2. Yes, we got dressed in different clothes very often. We were conscious we were on tv, so we still did our hair. Taking an extra 10 mins a day to dress decent did NOT hinder our renovation time.
3. We worked as hard, if not harder, than any other female on The Block. We have no trade skills between us, so yes we spent a lot of our money on hiring people. This just meant we replaced the male in the other houses (Waz, Josh and Rod) with paid tradies. This did not mean we were having a holiday!
4. We were dreadfully homesick and had no idea The Block would be so hard. We did not sail through it. I was very ill towards the end and almost didn’t make it.
5. We DID deserve to be there. We were lucky to be chosen. If you think you can do better, then try out next year and GOOD LUCK!
6. We are not bitches, conniving or nasty. Ask any of the contestants. Go on, ask them!
7. I loved being on The Block. I laughed like a school girl and have never regretted being there. It was an amazing time in my life. My memories when I sit here and write this are all positive.
8. I believe our rooms are awesome and I have never regretted any of our design decisions. I don’t want you all to love what we do, but then again, I will probably hate what you do… Design is subjective and is not for everyone. Our style is different… glitzy, eccentric, industrial and lazy… all rolled in to one.
9. There is nothing special or pretentious about us. We are normal, average Mum’s who have husbands that work average jobs. We are not rich, not snobs or think we are better than anyone.
10. My boys are so proud of me and that’s all that matters! My husband is amazed at what I have done. Our parent’s are beaming with pride. They’ve done a great job raising us and we are so happy  we can share this journey with them.
Ok, so there you go!
It’s my journey… Love the show, or turn me off!

PS. Amie will be writing a post about our Room 2 reveal later tonight. So come back!

Dear Katrina and Amie, there will always be unfortunate people who cannot decipher between reality and TV editing. The naiviety of these people deserves pity. I feel so sorry that some people's unkind comments have made you feel that you needed to justify yourself. You didn't need to. I am enjoying watching you on The Block, my whole family is too. You guys did an excellent job, I'm sure the difficulties you experienced (family separation, limited trade skill etc..) are underestimated by everyone other than the contestants experiencing them. I think you both deserve – Congratulations!!!!

Don't let the comments of a few faceless "wowsers" get you down. You guys are doing a fantastic job on The Block and I'm sure no normal person underestimates the pressures that you all faced during and after the series. The Block is apparently rating well and that's by no small measure how entertaining all of you are. Take care.

I haven't been a Block follower until my BFF (Trish, Spring Blossom Journey) had you do a blog make-over recently. Now I'm devoted and love what you guys are doing. Good for you for having the courage to even try I am shocked at some of the negative comments from 'anonymous' people and I'm sure if they had to put a name to the rubbish they write they'd think twice. Such a shame you had to write a blog post like this and justify yourselves. So great that you have risen above it all. Go you two!

I'm so sorry you felt the need to post this. I hate the thought that people feel it's OK to be rude on-line. They hide behind their on-line identity and think they're clever.

The majority of us know that the show is heavily edited. The producers can make people out to be what they're not by the way the editing is done. I feel the show has a really obvious bias and that is unfair to 3 of the contestant pairs. I would never, however, use the internet to discuss my like or dislike of anyone in particular.

Hold your heads up and just keep going. You have a lot of fans who are behind you.

Katrina and Amie! I am totally LOVING you on the show! Renovating is not easy… especially without your husband to deal with the big burley tradies!

My mother always told me that if people start to be nasty… you can bet they are just jealous! My husband and I would LOVE to go on the block… so of course, we sit in front of our tv every night saying we could do it better, its hard to forget its much easier from the comfort of our couch!

We are barracking for you! Don't listen to the negative… Just know there are more out there loving you than hating you! xx

Wow – i've been away, but just read your last 3 posts in one roll – what has happened? I think you need to stop reading your press ( like the stars do 🙂 so you don't get upset -that is no good for you at all !! People are saying mean things about you? Why?

Just ignore them, walk on, head high! maybe they are just jealous?

I think you two are just awesome. I'm positive that you get more screen time than the other couples because you make for good TV. No matter how they choose to portray you, it is YOU that are making the show what it is.

Can't wait to see the rest of your house!

I am very proud of you both for sticking it out when you two really wanted to give up.You didnt.I think it really sucks your real estate agent was only worried about hes fee than you both making any money. If I had the money I would happily give it to you both. The Block should have made sure you made something out of those tiresome hours and the problems you had with your health.Take care Ladies you did great……

    Katrina and Aime,
You did so well and I am proud of you both.I think it really sucks that you got nothing out of the sale of the house. In fact I was horrified that your real estate agent was more worried about their fee than whether you two mad
