Morning! Thanks for stopping by today…
Yesterday my boys and I headed out for a big walk/ride. I put on my backpack with filled with drinks, my camera and the keys. It was a lovely sunny day, but freezing! It didn’t take long to warm up though. We headed down to Lake Albert then across to the bike jumps and home again. I reckon it would have been 7-8kms! The kids weren’t even tired, but my legs were feeling like jelly when we got home. I think I need a bike to keep up with them!
There’s nothing like a good few hours in the the sunshine to shake off the Winter blues. I think we might go somewhere again today as it wastes a few good hours…
Question – I have this new camera and I really have no idea how to use it. I took about 100 photos and reckon I fluked only a few good ones. I have tried to watch some online tutorials, but does anyone know of any online courses that aren’t mega-expensive? OR, surely there is someone out there who’s willing to teach me via Skype or something? And in return I’ll teach you how to blog better with my e-course? Anyone? Anyone? 🙂
Have a great day! X

Is that a new road opened up onto Plumpton Road? Cool!
Anyway, love your photos of the boys, they are growing up so fast.
I can’t really help you to much with the taking photos problem, cause I do exactly what your doing and take 100+ and hope for the best! lol
Have a great day Treen. x Jode

Yesterday was just as beautiful in Melbourne…cold but gorgeous – I love the photos…there's something to be said about boys, bike and bike jumps…makes me smile inside always…it's amazing how they just go and go when it comes to this stuff and never tire from it! Love it! What sort of camera is it that you have? Hx
Katrina Chambers
Yes, we are big bike riders here! They ride every single day. We own a few spare bikes too for visitors to join in! The camera is an EOS 600D 🙂

I wish I knew too! I did photography but that was in the ‘olden’ days’, so give me a darkroom and I’m good to go. Not so much anymore 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your hols

I'll put my 'feelers' out there if something good comes back I'll let you know 😉

Hi Katrina,
Have you checked out the camera mags in newsagencies???
They are pretty good with tips and tricks….our friend here in wagga does wedding photography and portraits as a side job, so I can ask him what he may suggest as an online course
Chrissie
Katrina, I’m just reading our latest cannon camera mag, it reads to use for best quality images and choose the Av shooting mode so you can fix your aperture. When focusing, use a single AF (auto focus) point to lock on to the main area of interest of your landscape. If you use auto AF point selection, you may find that your camera uses AF points to focus on whatever’s closest in the frame, not necessarily what you want to focus on……
If you want this particular section on cannon camera in this mag I have, you are welcome to have it….

I live over in Tumut. I could teach you the basics without confusing the hell out of you. I have completed a diploma in Digital Photography and done a heap of courses. I am over in Wagga a lot for appointments or you could come for a drive one day. The offer is there.
Katrina
Thanks so much Wendy, I’ve had some great offers, so I will let you know. XX

Hi Katrina, love the photo’s of your boys and what a beautiful day and lovely countryside!! I did a one day course locally in digital photography and using a DSLR etc and now I’m doing an on-line Diploma of Professional Photography with the Photography Institute ($999). You can read about it here if your interested: https://www.thephotographyinstitute.com.au/
I’m up to Module 4. Would have been further along but we’ve been building and painting a new front fence and so photography studies have been on hold for a bit *oops*. I’m happy to share what I know with you. Would love to learn how to blog better and have a better page etc. Love your blog – only recently discovered it 🙂 Min xo
Katrina
Thanks so much Min! I’ll take a look at that course too. Sounds amazing. X

Well, can’t help you with the camera – I am hopeless, shove it on Auto and hope for the best! I usually fluke one or two as well. I just haven’t had time to look into it properly. On a side note…just wanted to say that your youngest bubba has the cutest face ever!
Kylie
Could recommend nicolesclasses.com -based in US…online classes. Im doing a few at the moment and loving it. Not expensive, do at your own time and supportive. Highly recommend!
Katrina
Thanks Kylie! I’ll check them out!

Hi Katrina, I have a lovely DSLR to daunt and confuse me too! They are fun and frustrating all at once I reckon. Anyway, there’s a great book called ‘Beyond Snapshots’ by Rachel Devine & Peta Mazey. It easy to understand giving the all important basics in plain English, explaining aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc and how to put it all together. A good friend of mine put me onto it and I take it everywhere. Don’t want to jinx myself but I think the penny has dropped….time will tell I guess! Good luck x

Katrina
Thanks, I will check it out! X

Hi Katrina,
I can recommend an Angie Baxter Love Your Camera Workshop. Knows her stuff. Does beautiful work herself. Regularly has workshops in Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne. The trick is trying to remember it all and a bit of trial and error!
Katrina
Thanks Jane! I will research today! X
