Floor Plan Friday: 4 bedroom, study, high ceilings & kitchen on the rear

4 bedroom floor plan

Here’s a 4 bedroom family home with bedrooms at the front and the living on the back. I like how the master is set back a bit though. The study is almost combined with the master isn’t it? What do you think about that idea?

I love the u-shape kitchen on the back. It would be so light and bright with sun streaming in. High ceilings are marked on the plan for this area so I love that.

What about the laundry position? Through the pantry? I don’t mind it.

Maybe you could put doors on the theatre room though? Just to block it off a bit so the living spaces don’t conflict.

Here‘s where I found the plan. It was a display home so there are some photos on how it all comes together too. They’ve extended the alfresco in the display home by the look of it.

Check out all of my other favourite floor plans over here. Be warned there are pages of them ha!

I have styling services too if you need a hand sorting through your own house build.

Don’t think I like that you walk through the kitchen and pantry to access the laundry

Would want a door from the family room too for the laundry

Not the layout for me – too many hallways that wouldn’t get natural light, I don’t like that you have to walk through the kitchen/pantry to get to the laundry, similarly walk through the study to get to the master. That study also looks impractical with all the jutting corners and unusable spaces that would need to be left clear as walkways and its tiny. Also despite having a home theatre the living area is rather small. I’d want another loungeroom for my kids.

Seems a bit poky to me. I would move the study entrance to near the garage door and then you could have a small walk in cupboard

I dont like it at all. Too many hallways. Study is too narrow and not practical. A long walk from bedrooms through kitchen and pantry to get to laundry. Lounger om stuck in the middle of the house.

I’d put the deck the full width at the back…

I think there are many issues here with light and ventilation, flow through breezes etc. It would not be energy efficient. I also don’t like the walk through pantry or that tucked away office.

Too much wasted space on hallways, dining area lacks natural light, kitchen too small and Master bedroom too impacted on by family noise from adjacent living spaces.

Nope, don’t like this one at all. Hate all the narrow hallways, not massive on the laundry, don’t like the study, think the media room should be further away from the rest of the living area and think the lounge room would be really dark.

never in a million years would i walk through a kitchen/pantry where you are supposed to have clean food environment with dirty soiled washing! Imagine those times in your life when your kids all have a stomach bug and your dragging baskets of vomit through the pantry (sorry for the graphic description)….obviously someone who has never lived through that ordeal designed this house!!!!
