There’s something uniquely charming about a concrete tank plunge pool. They’re practical, stylish, and oh-so-versatile. If you’ve ever thought about adding a pool to your backyard but worried about space or budget, this might just be the solution you’ve been looking for.

Why Choose a Concrete Tank Plunge Pool?

Concrete tank plunge pools are a clever and compact alternative to traditional pools. Here’s why they’re worth considering:

  • Perfect for Small Backyards: Not everyone has the luxury of a sprawling backyard, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on poolside fun. These pools nestle beautifully into smaller spaces, making them an excellent choice for urban homes or compact outdoor areas.

  • Aesthetically Pleasing: With their clean lines and rustic charm, concrete tank pools blend seamlessly into various landscaping styles. Whether your backyard vibe is modern, coastal, or country chic, these pools add a unique touch.

  • Family-Friendly: The kids will love it! A plunge pool offers endless fun and a perfect way to cool down during those hot summer days. Plus, their smaller size often makes them easier to supervise.

  • Cost-Effective: Compared to a traditional in-ground pool, a concrete tank pool is a more budget-friendly option. While there are costs involved for the shell, craning it in, leveling, plumbing, and setup, it’s often a fraction of the expense of a larger pool installation.

Installation Basics

Getting your concrete tank plunge pool up and running requires a bit of planning and the right team. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s involved:

  1. The Shell: This is the core of your plunge pool and will need to be craned into place. Make sure you have a clear and accessible area for delivery.

  2. Leveling: The pool needs to sit perfectly level in your yard to ensure stability and proper functioning.

  3. Plumbing: Professional plumbing is essential to connect your pool to the water and filtration system.

  4. Finishing Touches: This is where the fun begins! You can add decking, tiling, or even a boardwalk to create a polished look.

From rustic outback designs where kids are doing cannonballs to sleek urban setups with tiled edges and integrated lighting, the possibilities are endless. One standout feature of these pools is their height – in many cases, you may not need fencing (but always check with your local council!). This not only saves on cost but also preserves those uninterrupted backyard views.

A Few Considerations

Before diving in, keep these points in mind:

  • Local Regulations: Pool fencing requirements vary, so ensure you’re compliant with your area’s safety standards.

  • Ongoing Maintenance: Like any pool, your plunge pool will require regular cleaning and care to keep it in top condition.

  • Customisation: Want a heated plunge pool? Or perhaps you’d like built-in seating? Work with a reputable company to tailor your pool to your preferences.

Would You Take the Plunge?

So, what do you think? Would you consider a concrete tank plunge pool for your backyard? They’re stylish, functional, and an amazing way to elevate your outdoor space. Whether you’re after a refreshing summer retreat or a cosy spot for year-round dips, this might just be the perfect addition to your home.

Love the idea from the photos. You would need pool fencing though to be able to put one in where I live.

Any tips Kim? We are considering we are rural. That said the dam is doing a pretty good job and it’s low maintenance;)

Kelly Taylor we have the round one but they also come in square shape now. The pool is delivered completely finished and just needs to be lifted by a crane into place then connected to the filter system. Ours was partially dug in but you can have them just sitting on the ground. They are great for cooling off in the hot weather but you can’t do laps in them (to small). We went for the biggest size you can get.

Amy Bloyd in total with fencing it was around $18,000.00 but that was 2 years ago. Have a look at their website http://www.australianplungepools.com.au

I’ve been looking into shipping container pools and these are another great option, it’s for a rural property but one we lease so I like the idea of taking it with us if needed

We have been looking at these! Requirements for NSW though including having to fence around the complete pool even though it would not be as high as the pool itself. Once you break down the actual pricing, delivery and instal costs getting a bit pricey. Still, we have the perfect spot for one!

Yessss!! ? Absolutely love them! We just bought a little block of land at Mangoplah that has an old shed & half a concrete water tank still in the ground and immediately thought to transform it into a concrete plunge pool like this! I’ve been looking at them on Pinterest for weeks! I’m not much of a swimmer either and only ever like a quick dip to cool off so it works into our lifestyle perfectly?follow our journey – @forever.at.forty.five

We are currently in the process of having one installed on our property in Yallingup WA. You need to consider, in addition to the cost of the actual pool, the decking, fencing, plumbing for pumps etc etc. We’re also having ours heated so it’s all adding up, but we’re super excited and looking forward to posting some pics once it’s all done :))
