The Chumps – The Block

We probably had the smallest space to work with and I still think we did a better job than anyone else (except for J&J’s ensuite – awesome and they had a massive space!).
At this point in the competition Amie and I had totally lost our confidence. The only comments we got to hear from the judges were “eclectic and great wardrobes”. So then when you are awarded the CHUMPS, we had no idea why.
I think we started the next week (Hall and Living) with a pretty crappy attitude. We were tired, homesick and basically thought our ideas were shit. We started calling ourselves “The Mediocre Mum’s”! Yeah, pretty suckful attitude I know!
So at this part of the show, we’d won a bottle of wine and had to take $3,000 off our neighbours, had pitiful tradies and our rooms were awful…
Things had to get better for us!

A-M took this of me being a chump yesterday. She wrote about it here.

Having seen the gorgeous finished product myself I have to say you are so far from 'chumps' it's not funny. You have excelled. I couldn't have done half the job you did. I would have caved in week 2! Roll on auction day I say! A-M xx

I loved your bedroom/ensuite and I love watching you on TV. You make me feel happy!
Just read A-M's post and thought it was fantastic. What a fun time you 3 must have had together!

You guys are so far from being the chumps! I liked your rooms last night – a lot more personality than what the others had to offer. And I loved the cockatoo cushion. xx

    Hi!
Brave to try wall papering, well done. I like it a lot. Trying to convince my husband that, that is the go and that we "need" it in our new master bedroom!

I have loved ALL your rooms! Seems the judges just don't 'get it' and I dont get them!! Polly and Waz's was nothing on yours!! I thought they'd comment on flowers in your bathroom again LOL! Which I really like, BTW. I cant wait to see your kitchen/lounge etc. Bet you guys kick ass then!

Well, if you're a chump, then so am I, because I love, love, love your Ensuite. So much, in fact, that I'm off to grab the white feature tile for my new Ensuite.

Wish we could have been encouraging you in real time, when you needed it the most.

I loved it! The gnome, cushion & pink bedside would be labelled 'whimsical' in any style magazine. Silly judges!

Looking at the floorplans, I think you girls were really disadvantaged, as you seem to have tiny spaces to work with. While the auction reserves may compensate for that, the judges don't seem to have considered it at all. 🙁

    Hello Katrina (& Aime)

Well you definitely had the smallest space to work with and I thought you did beyond what a lot of the population could do with an unlimited budget.

I am sure you are nothing but human to have wavering emotions and attitudes. That is perfectly normal.

Loved AM's post on you and whilst you are suffering some terrible health issues currently – you look beautiful.

Hugs to you and you keep me watching night after night.

Loved you and Amie laughing continually with the bed head up the stairs.
I honestly was laughing with you.

You girls see the light of situations and laugh or sing, whilst Jenna and Josh can NOT stop arguing – I want to put the tv on mute when they start talking.

We loved it too, esp. the garden gnome, pink lamp and cocky. I don't think the judges took into account the challenges, and the creativity. xo

I LOVE your ensuite in particular. I have been wanting those gorgeous white mosaic tiles for my kitchen splashback, but I am concerned that spaghetti sauce, curry etc. will splash and stain the grout. Like A-M, I think your talent and hard work will be well rewarded on auction day.

I personally loved your rooms this week!

Np offense to Polly and Waz (I really 'like' them – or the way they come across on tele anyway!) but I didn't love their bedroom, certainly wasn't "best room in all 4 series" worthy in my eyes!

I had to laugh when the judges questioned your use of a single basin instead of a double – guys do you have ANY idea of the budget and time constraints put on these teams?? Duh!

Aannnyway – looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week!

Ooh – loving the pink bedside, I've been tying with getting one myself but haven't been able to find one that isn't hideously expensive yet..

I really liked your room…your photos featured on here are fab…much better than the quick 30 second look we get from the tv! I love love love the wallpaper and have to wonder if the judges give out the prize money each week in order to cause friction/tension amongst you all which in turn = big ratings… rather than to the team that really did do the best room??
Anyway, congrats on your room. Can't wait to see what you come up with next x

Loved you girls trying to get that bed head upstairs last night.
    You crack me up!
I really love the sisterly bond you share and how much you seem to enjoy yourselves on the show. (I am sure it is not all a bed of roses, as we have seen, but you gals have a great attitude.)
    Keep up the great work!

Loved your bedroom and especially loved your ensuite!!! I'm thinking they need a woman on that judging panel, as they have very masculine taste!!!!

Aaww it makes me sad to think you got called chumps 🙁

I haven't seen the episode yet as NZ is about 3 weeks behind but from the photos the room looks lovely.

I know your super positive personality would have bounced back but really the judges are too harsh.

Can't wait to see you prove them wrong by winning the comp! he he
