I have had a concept in my head for a house that I would like to build one day. This house above is something I have been molding my concept around. I have always wanted to build an ‘ugly’ not so run-of-the-mill house with odd external features. I wouldn’t think my style would be as modern as this, however, it’s the shape and proportions I love. Very open at one end, and double story to the back. I will give my boys a loft, bathroom and games room, and downstairs would be polished concrete floors, huge ceilings, kitchen, living and parent’s room. I would build the house simply out of colorbond, manual garage doors for awnings, and I love this idea of a huge window (north facing if I could!). There would be no fuss, and no junk. The idea would be to use as much solar energy as I could, and utilise rainwater tanks for everything. The boys would get their chooks (they are desperate for them!), can ride motorbikes all day, and Andrew could have his vegie patch.

But to do this, we would need to move slightly out of town. Am I ready for this? Don’t know yet. One day we will…..

Until then, I am collecting images in my brain of what could be done in years to come. Yes, we have just built a new house, but get to know me long enough and you will realise I don’t sit still for long.

Would love to know what you think of this crazy house?

    LOVE IT!!

I could easily settle into that one very nicely – loads of natural light, clean, uncluttered……

Keep that one in your purse as something that will happen and knowing you it will come true

    Happy weekend

Love this barn house. I just showed Max and said I would love to live in a house like that. He just rolled his eyes.
Where did you find it?? I love the vastness of it all and the wall of windows is sensational.

I love it! I'm an architect and love modern architecture.

I would love to live in a house like this but I don't know where I would put all my stuff! I always wonder if people can really live like that or if they just put all their stuff somewhere else while the house is being photographed! Do you ever wonder about that?

    Hi,
I love it too. I would use earthy red colourbond. My dreamhouse with 4 boys is level & open at both ends so I could hose it out. Bahaha. Seriously cut down on my workload. We are just in the planning stages of moving the boys to a farm on the other side of the country. Scary & exciting stuff.
