Aesthetically pleasing and minimal kitchens are very popular. We spend a lot of time gathered in the hub of our homes. We chat, listen, do homework, pay bills, cook, clean and so much more. Instagram and Pinterest are flooded with ideas on how to create sleek and minimal kitchen spaces. No longer are we filling every corner with appliances, pots, and utensils.
If you’re building or renovating a home you want to be proud of, then choosing quality appliances to stand the test of time will be a very big long term benefit. Updating such appliances is an exciting task. It can also be daunting especially if you’re doing it for the first time! Today I wanted to share with you some tips on how to create a minimalist kitchen and also introduce you to ASKO. They produce the most stunning kitchen appliances with that unique Swedish feel.
Minimalism doesn’t need to be cold, or sterile. You can still create a beautiful space, just with less stuff and less fuss. To start with, chances are you’re on the lookout for a new oven, cooktop and dishwasher. The choices can sometimes blow your mind! It’s a good idea to do your research and know your steam oven from a pyrolytic, and an induction cooktop from a wok burner. Do all of this before you open your wallet. This will help you narrow down which appliances you will really need and use.
Here are some tips on how to create a gorgeous minimal kitchen…
Essentials only
Get rid of unused cutting boards, bowls, lids which don’t match. If you want to stick to a minimalist kitchen you need to only have items which get used often. ‘Just in case’ means never.
Declutter
You need to be ruthless and do this often. If you have a habit of dumping bills, keys and random items on your bench tops you’ll need to think of a new solution. Designate a drawer to this. Minimalist kitchens rarely have anything on their bench tops.
Storage Systems
Minimalist kitchens will always have a good storage system. Whether that be a good walk-in-pantry or clever use of pot drawers and utensils. Items need to be accessed easily. Labels also work a treat on pantry items so you can easily locate things. This way you’re not over-buying items and end up with 3 packets of flour!
Sleek
Rethink your colour scheme. White and black will always work and you won’t regret it. You can add a bit of warmth with stools, flooring or bring in some greenery now and then. Also lose the handles – go for push options.
Design
Choose appliances which will integrate smoothly in to your style. Think about ovens which offer an intuitive user interface surrounded by an exceptionally high quality design. Dishwashers which can also be seamlessly added to fit in your cabinetry and choose a rangehood which is easy to clean while giving an expression of elegant, minimalistic design.
