Are you once a week, twice a week, once a month??

I’m always curious how often people are eating it because those shops never look empty!

We don’t have it too often, maybe every second week. And if we do I always always regret it. For starters it costs too much and then I usually feel sick for the evening.

If I don’t want to make dinner, we go for a sausage sandwich or spaghetti on toast instead of buying take-away…

My kids always wants Maccas or KFC though. I love a good subway. We’ll also do the odd fish and chips. I don’t mind a good dagwood dog 😉

We don’t go for Chinese (occasionally we do Chinese – like once a year), or Thai or Indian because I can’t eat it. We don’t buy take-away Pizza because I prefer to make it.

If you do get take-away, what do you buy? What’s your favourite?

When our kids were very little, we had takeaway every Friday (usually fish & chips). It suited us because I finished work late on Fridays and by the time you arrive home late with a bunch of hungry kids, who wants to cook?

Then we decided it was too expensive (plus not very healthy) so we cut it back to fortnightly. THEN a few years later when we were going through a tight time financially, we cut it out altogether and started making our own pizzas or hamburgers or whatever…

We’re not desperate for cash any more, but we still do home made “takeaway” most Fridays. I’d say we buy pizza perhaps 4-5 times a year now, fish & chips maybe once or twice and I never go near the chain hamburger places because I think their food tastes revolting. My kids don’t share my views… 😉 They all earn some money of their own now, so if they want to waste it on that stuff, they just go right ahead.

I bet when my boys earn their own money they’ll be eating Maccas every day!

We have Pizza hut on tues nights. As footy training and ballet we don’t get home till around 730pm. They have a 2 for $10 deal. So we get 4 pizzas for $20. Everyone gets a pizza and I eat something else. Like u I prefer making my own. Other than that I do the same, if I don’t want to cook we have sausages or scrabbled eggs in toast with home made milk shakes to fill them.
Our kids always ask for macas but I rarely get it. KFC is way to expensive and everyone feels gross after it.
We do go out a bit to restaurants but it is all contra as we own a Dinibg Out guide so we r lucky that way. But I don’t always like using the contra as I feel scabby .

We do eat it Friday or sat night but there’s only the two of us so it’s not too costly. We get pizza ( i make it too), Chinese, kebabs and I also like Indian or sometimes sushi 🙂

Actually, you know what? I can’t remember the last time we got takewaways! Not that we purposely don’t buy it for any reason, it just hasn’t happened (which is a good thing!) I think we bought pizza a few months ago. We hardly ever eat fish and chips because we always regret it afterwards, and yes it is too expensive to get McD’s for everyone (I do love a Grand Angus burger though!) KFC is even worse than fish and chips on the regret it afterwards scale, lol! We do love Thai and Indian, haven’t had Chinese for years. Sushi is actually the favourite of the whole family, but we weouldn’t have it for dinner, only lunch. If this has made me sound super healthy or overly concerned about eating crap, I’m not…I love chocolate far too much for that 😉

It varies with us. We live 10 min drive from a shop so it’s hard to be bothered to go get it and no one delivers. 2 of my 4 kids works at maccas and I have 2 and 3 yos that enjoy it ( well the playgroun more to the point). I used to love subway before I stopped eating bread :/ our pizza shops all over load the ham and make them soggy. Home made much better I agree. We r once a year Chinese people too. Last night for instance the family had Coles pizzas with extra topping and in my mind that was junk food cos I was being lazy and it’s not healthy. I can’t eat what they eat on these occasions so I have one of my preprepared meals from the freezer. So generally speaking we save up our takeaways for our trips to the big smoke where there is much better choice. Does chicken and chips count as takeaway if u have it with veggies lol

When I was young we’d get take-away once in a blue moon and it was the most special treat ever. It was too expensive for our family, but I have to admit, it really taught me to appreciate the treat and money as well.

Nowadays it’s still not that often. Maybe once a month for dinner? If so it’s Chicken Treat (which is close to our house) or chinese. The fiance will get take out whenever I’m not home to cook or haven’t made sure there are leftovers for him (yes, yes he can be rather slack). I don’t really eat KFC/McDonalds etc any more because I truly can’t handle the greasyness of it – it makes me feel sick as well. I don’t mind a McDonald’s soft serve ice-cream though!! I’m the same with pizza – home made is the best!!
For lunch I might get subway once or twice a month? And even then it’s Subway. I love how healthy Subway is and the choices you get.

Maybe twice a year at most……
I don’t even know what takeaway to get as we RARELY get it.
We just don’t like it and prefer to spend the money on real food. Don’t hate me please! ;o)

We very rarely have take away because we live out of town, it costs too much and as we are gluten free we can’t each much more than chips.
Hubby and I went out for $5 steak and veges at a local pub the other night and we sometimes take the kids out with us- they only do it on a Monday night- works out cheaper than Maccas or KFC anyway!

Funny post as I’m eating KFC while I write this! I’m the same as you and end up eating it maybe once every fortnight, however I an 23 and single so my friend and I always seem to be eating out more often than we should. It ends up costing a fortune and it’s so unhealthy. I love your posts katrina, I’m always checking in to see what you have written! I’m not sure if you saw my comment the other day but I was wondering where your sister found the name Priya? It’s so lovely and different. Did she get funny looks with the name like you said you did with your boys?! I love the names you have both picked! Keep up the great posts 🙂 Tahlia

The awful thing about take away is that it’s soooo convenient… and sometimes I just get lazy! Lately we’ve had it more than usual because we’ve been super busy but generally it’s every 2-4 weeks. And I know it’s called junk food for a reason…wish I wasn’t so attracted to it lol. If I had a personal chef, I’d choose them over the take away for convenience evry time! But since I am the chef…well, sometimes I just want a night off. Of course, we occasionally do things like toasted sandwiches for an easy meal 🙂

We are once a fortnight people. For us it’s a night off for me on the weekend without having to cook – bliss! We either grab a pizza, fish and chips or Chinese. Every time I eat something like KFC, I regret it afterwards 🙂 Hate that ‘greasy food feeling’ and always feel like I need a hot cup of tea afterwards to wash all that fat down 🙂

Princess loves Macca’s but more about the toys, which drive me insane!

I love the smell of KFC but it is always a disappointment, great hangover food though!

So guess we mostly have homemade takein! pizza, pasta, Thai, and instant Korean noodles! lol

Because we live in the pilbara, we are limited for quality take away. We usually make home made take away, as it tastes much better. Friday night is pizza night & then over the weekend we might also make something else like like burgers, kebabs, steak sangas or fish & chips. It always tastes better & costs less to make it at home. Then there are also the spaghetti on toast or scrambled egg nights when we are too tired to cook. When we go to Perth we always have hungry jacks (like twice a year!)
