One of my brats…

No fun stuff today. I am struggling with this child here. Looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth hey? He will turn 8 in a few weeks. We are going through a behavioural shift here at the Chambo's house. No big deal, just need to put my bossy boots on and snap him back …

Bring on school (Friday)!

Any advice is welcome on dealing with attitude and not wanting to go to bed!

I had forgotten all about this stage. Mr16 has always wanted to debate issues. We found pulling in the reins and putting on the bossy boots for a while balanced things back to being livable. Good luck:)

    Hi Katrina,
    Gotta love him.
Hate to tell you this but just go along for the ride. My 27yo was in Prep with Gail's 27yo – both gorgeous devils.
Musr be the age for attitude our Lachlan is nearly 8 and boy is he getting attitude big time – gives his Mum plenty of cheek. She's now taking stuff off him as punishment – no DS, no play station no TV and as hard as that is it seems to be working. Probably an age thing.
    My 27yo is enjoying Kapooka.
    Good Luck

    Hi Katrina!

He's a gorgeous little boy. I have 8 and 5 year old boys so I can relate. They are fighting one minute, and the next minute they're best buddies?!

I take away my older son's WII (or DS) for a week when he misbehaves, it seems to do the trick. Also, I try and spend one on one time with each of the boys and that helps too. Maybe a story at bedtime or just lie down and talk about stuff with him?? I'm no authority on parenting, just some ideas of course?

    Take care, love your blog!

Oh he is so gorgeous I could eat his little cheeks. 2 words: consistency and consequence. Boring I know… but just keep at it. NEVER give in, do what you are going to say you are going to do, even if it is taking off your thong…… and make him realise that there are consequences to everything…. that behaviour… no DS etc!! Good luck. I know. My challenge is my 7 year old… oh the cheek sometimes! I find a few G&T's help. A-M xx

Yes I can relate to this, I remember doing the taking things & I seemed to always be taking things away from her!! So I tried the Sienna & mum time just 10min I would lay in bed with her and chat about anything or look at a book or comic it worked well……….. Thoug she will be 10 on the 30th Jan & she tells me last night that "since I'm in year 5 I will go to bed at 9 O'clock!!! I Dont think so madam……

well if you find that advice pass it on! Actually mine goes to bed, she just insists that I stay outside her bedroom door until she goes to sleep… UGH, at 10pm … UGH!!! Her Daddy's fault, he got her into the habit while they were on holiday – UGH!!!
