TIPS:

  • Start with a basic desk. They don’t have to cost you a fortune.
  • Grab a few note pads and stack them.
  • Add some greenery – a plant, fake stuff or some simple cuttings.
  • Add your computer (download this cool black flip clock screen saver).
  • Choose a trendy chair (tub chair or ghost chair).
  • If you have space for a shelf stack some books or prints on it.
  • Grab a desk lamp with an arm so you can point it out of your face when working.
  • Keep old jars, tins or even mugs and fill them with pens/pencils for fun.

My Dad was telling me just yesterday how he made a desk for under $100 yesterday. He went to his local tip recycle store, bought a baby change table, as it came with draws and a good height. Then he bought a slab of recycled hardwood timber, sanded and oiled it. Voila! I love the idea of a trestle table and want to have a go at making one of those. At the moment, my desk is a 3m laminate slab that I picked up for $30 from a kitchen cabinetry maker. I then added two filing cabinets for the base – works a treat!

Now that is clever! Good work!

Great post as I want to fix up a small space in the dining room with a desk and because I’m sort on space it needs to be quite clutter free. I am dying over the “where troubles melt like lemon drops” embroidery though. I want it soooo badly.

Love these options. I had to set up a new desk in my bedroom back in March when I started a new work at home position. I will have to share what I’ve done, but I came to your blog to get some corner study/desk inspiration. x
